We got a great view of Garner Road over the weekend, checking in on several names and their development. One player of interest that some may know of already but others may not yet was 2024 Jucqarie Love, a 6’5 prospect from Southern Guilford. He has gone a little bit under the radar in a loaded class in NC, but he is one that deserves more attention with what he brings.

Love brings intrigue with his size for his position, his athleticism, and his ability to get downhill but also score from the perimeter. His energy and upside are all there, as he has shown he can produce consistently on the court and this summer could be a big platform to let more college programs know.

We spoke with Love about his excitement this summer and some of the latest with him.

Phenom: How did everything go this past season in your opinion' You had a solid season at 18-10. How did it go and where do you think you improved as a player'
Love: I really enjoyed this past season. I really loved the group of guys I played with during the season, and we all helped each other grow throughout the season. This past season, I really think I improved my decision-making and how to slow down during the game and let the game come to me and not rush everything. I improved my ability in rebounding; I feel that played a big role in how we did this season.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game on the court'
Love: I feel like I have a lot of elements to my game. I can shoot the ball well, I can rebound well, my length and athleticism help me on defense allowing me to block shots and make defensive plays.  With my versatility, I can help my team space the floor very well.

Phenom: What is your excitement about playing with Garner Road this summer'
Love: I’m really excited to be playing with a great group of guys this summer.  We have a load of talent, everyone on the floor can impact the game in so many different ways.  I feel like we can win a lot of games this summer, especially at a very high level. Everyone on our team just wants to compete, win, and make each other better in the process.

Phenom: Has anything been going on as far as recruitment for you'
Love: I had some interest from Western Carolina. Other than that, there hasn’t been anything recently. I visited NC Central last year in September and Western was looking at me heavily. They were saying I was a top prospect for them that they wanted to pursue.  I’m looking to prove myself this summer that I can play at the collegiate level.
