Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the once-again-rainy piedmont. The Disgruntled One is here to give you who will be in the Final 4 of all classes. First, we will recap the often brutal sectional finals. In the 4A West, North Meck cruised past a scrappy Grimsley squad, Independence edged out Hough in the controversial last 2 minutes, NW Guilford rallied to end Ardrey Kell’s season and Olympic outlasted Vance. In the East, shockers abounded as Cinderella Lumberton stunned Garner, Hoggard survived the Hornets from Hillside, Pinecrest quietly just keeps advancing, and Millbrook lost another heartbreaker to Leesville Rd. In the 3A West, Smith and Freedom rolled, Huss shocked Catholic and Weddington ended Cox Mill’s surprising season. The East saw no surprises as Westover, Clayton, Northwood, and S. Durham advanced. In the 2A West, there were also no surprises as Forest Hills, Mtn. Heritage, Shelby and W. Stokes all won. In the East, ditto as S. Granville, Reidsville, Farmville, and Kinston held serve. In the 1A West, there were no big shockers either as Lincoln Charter, Chatham Charter, MI Charter, and WS Prep moved on. Finally, in the East, N. Edgecomb, Granville Central, Henderson Collegiate, and Holmes all posted wins. The Sadster went 24-8, or an underachieving 75%, bringing his record to 132-28, or 83.5%. However, the ol’ cubic zirconia ball (cant afford crystal) is warmed up and he is sure to bounce back with a vengeance in the regionals. Monster matchups abound as Indy goes to North Meck, Farmville visits Kinston, Henderson Collegiate visits Holmes etc, etc. To the picks!!!!
