Coach Jones
#1: 4’9 ’24 Ava Webb (Burnsville, NC)
Starting things off, we look at a player that showcased solid skills on both sides of the ball, Ava Webb. She’s a point guard prospect that provided her team with a nice balance on offense between shooting and penetrating. Webb handled the ball pretty well and showed the ability to make plays for others. She’s a decent all-around defender for her size and displayed quality positioning on that end of the floor. Next in her development process is working on her ability to spot-up and knock down perimeter shots off the catch, as it would allow her to play alongside another ball-handler. Coach Jones on Webb: “Ava has a big heart and maintained a positive attitude throughout the day. She showed the ability to handle the ball and finish strong around the basket.” Webb was able to make solid contributions on both ends of the floor and should continue working to maximize her skillset.
#7:5’3 ’24 Lauren Middleton (Cross, SC)
Next, we look at a player that provided her team with a fairly well-rounded approach on both sides of the ball, Lauren Middleton. She’s a guard prospect that has a blossoming offensive skillset, but showed the ability to handle the ball and pass to the open teammate whenever possible. Middleton made multiple plays on defense and utilized her quickness to contain her on-ball assignment. She rebounded well for her position and pushed the ball ahead in transition nicely. Next in her development process is working on her ability to penetrate and finish through contact, as it would make her a more reliable scoring option. Coach Jones on Middleton: “Lauren is a well-rounded player with a positive attitude and great acceptance of criticism. She can work to play harder on both sides of the ball.” Middleton showed flashes of a nice two-way player, but should continue to improve her overall presence going forward.
#9:5’4 ’23 Savannah Goodwin (Wake Forest, NC)
Moving onto a player that showcased a high motor and terrific team-first approach throughout camp, Savannah Goodwin. She’s a strong-bodied guard prospect that shot the ball quite well from the perimeter, especially off the catch. Goodwin has great quickness for her size and possesses terrific upside as a penetrator. She knows how to move without the ball and rebound effectively for her position. Next in her development process is working on her ability to handle the ball, as it would make her a more reliable threat on offense. Coach Jones on Goodwin: “Savannah is a good team player that works hard on both ends of the floor. She maintains a positive attitude and accepts criticism well. Savannah showed the ability to shoot the ball pretty well from midrange and beyond the arc.” Goodwin is a pretty intriguing prospect and could be worth keeping an eye on over the coming years.
#22:5’5 ’24 Truth King (Fayetteville, NC)
Continuing onto a player that made quite a strong impression with her defensive prowess, Truth King. She’s a high-motor guard prospect that operates extremely well within the team concept and knows how to make her presence felt on both ends of the floor. King is a solid all-around scoring threat, but truly overwhelms opponents on defense. She displayed quality instincts for forcing turnovers by jumping into passing lanes. King has a great feel for the game and has great upside as a two-way prospect. Next in her development process is working on her consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make her a more complete offensive player. Coach Jones on King: “Truth is a great defensive player and excellent teammate. She bothered opponents throughout the day and provided great energy on both sides of the ball. Truth has great instincts for forcing turnovers.” King was among her team’s most reliable defenders and should continue to build on her quality two-way skillset going forward.
#29:5’7 ’23 Laurel Zlotkowski (Greensboro, NC)
Next, we look at a player that has a solid skillset and terrific long-term upside, Laurel Zlotkowski. She’s a wing prospect with quality size and the ability to score on all levels. Zlotkowski moved extremely well without the ball and showed strong instincts when creating for others. She has a quality feel for the game and plays with great energy on both ends of the floor. Zlotkowski proved to be a pretty strong on-ball defender and forced numerous turnovers during her time at camp. Next in her development process is working to become quicker, as it would make her an even more dynamic offensive threat. Coach Jones on Zlotkowski: “Laurel has a good basketball IQ and knows how to really move without the ball. She maintained a great attitude during camp and was able to make plays on both ends of the floor.” Zlotkowski possesses a lot of useful skills and intangibles, and should be worth keeping an eye on going forward.
#38:5’8 ’23 Joelle Davis (Durham, NC)
Moving onto a player that possesses an impressive blend between productivity and long-term potential, Joelle Davis. She’s a wiry wing prospect that can really dominate opponents with her vast array of offensive skills. Davis scores extremely well on all three levels while consistently highlighting her deep three-point shooting range. She forced numerous turnovers and scored consistently well in transition. Davis possesses a strong IQ and overall feel for the game, making her an absolute nightmare matchup for most opponents her age. Next in her development process is learning to better utilize her length as an off-ball defender to accumulate steals, as she possesses the tools to become dominant in that area. Coach Jones on Davis: “Joelle is a great shooter with impressive range and the ability to score off the dribble or catch with relative ease. She moves extremely well without the ball and can really pile on the points, especially if she heats up.” Davis was one of the most exciting players in the middle school group and possesses an exceptional amount of upside, definitely making her a prospect that college coaches need to know.
#41:5’8 ’24 Caroline Lennon (High Point, NC)
Finishing up, we look at a player that was able to impact the interior quite well during her time at camp, Caroline Lennon. She’s a solid-bodied post prospect that provided her team with excellent energy and a positive attitude on and off the court. Lennon rebounded nicely on both ends of the floor and ran the floor nicely in transition. She showed the ability to move well without the ball and score inside the paint decently well. Next in her development process is working on her overall skillset and establish a go-to scoring avenue, as it would improve her offensive ceiling. Coach Jones on Lennon: “Caroline plays hard on both sides of the ball and uses her size well inside the paint to rebound. She maintained a positive attitude and accepted criticism well throughout the day.” Lennon possesses great upside and should continue working to maximize her two-way skillset over the coming years.
