As a freshman last year, Xavier Brown showed glimpses of what was to come at Surry, being the glue for a very athletic program with multiple scoring threats around him.  In his first season, he played the point guard position that helped his program win a state championship, going 29-2.

Fast forward to his sophomore season, Brown really got a chance to show his full potential on the court, averaging 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 4.0 steals, and shot 41 percent from behind the arc.

He stepped up his game to be a true leader on the floor, leading his team to a 19-5 record at Jamestown.  Brown was one of the true ball-handlers on the floor but also was a scoring threat as well; he simply understood how to put his teammates in the right positions to be successful.

When speaking with his coach, Chris Brown, here is what he had to say about what the rising junior is focusing on this offseason.

“Xavier has been working on his body getting stronger in the weight room and working on his shooting from all over the floor especially the mid-Range and 3-ball.”

Brown’s high energy and competitiveness can always be seen on the floor and he plays at an extremely high level.  And still being young and growing, this young man has a chance to be an even bigger name in the state of Virginia.

Other Notes:

Xavier’ss siblings have played at the collegiate level. Sister Keyana played at Old Dominion for 3 years and graduated from D2 Virginia State University. Brother Dominique played at Emory and Henry and brother Chris played at D2 Huston Tillotson University in Austin, TX.
