The Community School of Davidson visited Carolina International School on Friday Night. Even though Carolina International led the way most of the game, The Community School of Davidson had no quit. The Community School of Davidson was led by sophomore guard Seth Johnson who made big play after big play. He hit the three pointers to send it into overtime and knocked in two free throws to win the game in overtime. Now, let’s take a closer look at the game’s standout players for both teams.

Standout Players 

Seth Johnson  2023    5’11     Community School of Davidson 

Seth was absolutely tremendous all night. He was the player that sparked the run to help secure a win. Even though he isn’t the biggest guy on the court, he makes up for it with his heart and skillset. He does a tremendous job attacking downhill and finishing over contact. He also, has the ability to beat you from the perimeter. Seth finished the game with 18 points. 

Matthew Ferguson     2022    6’2       Community School of Davidson 

Matthew does a great job battling and competing all game long. He isn’t the tallest guy but he is one of the hardest workers and he does a good job rebounding on both sides of the ball.  He does a good job using his body and scoring with angles. Also, he is comfortable stepping out and making shots from the perimeter. Matthew finished the game with 12 points. 

Charlie Walker            2021    5’10     Carolina International

Charlie plays the game with a lot of confidence. He is a tremendous shooter and has great range. He hit a few 3’s from a couple feet behind the line. He has a high basketball IQ and make a lot of good decisions on the court. Charlie finshed the game with 15 points. 

Mike Hayer-Riddick    2023    6’3       Carolina International School

Mike does most of his work from inside the perimeter. He plays hard and does a good job finishing around the rim. He is a really good rebounder and attacks the glass on both sides of the ball. He leads the team in rebounding this year. Mike finished the game with 12 points.
