The third game of Phenom Hoops’ City of Oaks Classic was another incredibly tight, neck-and-neck contest between the Durham Academy Cavaliers and Village Christian Knights. It opened up in favor of the Cavaliers behind the play of Cole Sinclair and Toby Harris. However, the Knights quickly turned things around through the leadership of sheer dominance of Zavian McLean. Village Christian held onto the lead for most of the game and walked into halftime with a 28-25 advantage.

As close as it was during the first half, it only got better and more competitive after the break. Nik Graves stepped up as another reliable option for Durham Academy while Justin Thomas did the same for Village Christian. Neither team gave an inch, forcing this one to go down to the wire. There were an abundance of lead changes between halftime and the final buzzer, as every time Village would take the lead Durham Academy would immediately answer with a massive bucket. It was a tie game for the final minute, which ultimately led to overtime and a 64-62 victory for Durham Academy.
