6’3 2021 Javian Cannady (Team Hickory)- Cannady had one of the top offensive performances of the morning. Cannady went off for a smooth 25 piece against a really talented Upward team. Cannady showed depth getting it done from all three levels. Cannady is a shifty guard in space, he split defenders with ease and evaded willing shot blockers at the cup. Cannady has good body control especially in the air, he also embraces contact. Cannady moves well laterally, he has the physical tools and motor to be a consistent lockdown defender.

6’9 Ian Thomson (Upward Stars Bailey)- Thompson was part of an extremely balanced attack for Upward, that being said Thompson absolutely stood out, his combination of size and skills allowed him to impose his will. Thomson showed patience and poise on the block, he has soft hands and looked comfortable playing back to the basket. Thomson has a couple of reliable post moves on the block to create separation, and he utilized his length well on both ends. Thomson won’t blow anyone away with athleticism, but he moves well enough on both ends that he isn’t a liability.

6’3 2022 Antonio Perkins (Charlotte Supreme)- Perkins continues to have a strong summer for the Charlotte Supreme. Perkins doesn’t have any glaring holes in his game but can continue to sharpen his established skillset. At 6’3 Perkins is a physical player, he’s got a physique meant for slashing to the cup, but that same physicality allows him to guard multiple positions. Offensively Perkins can beat his guy off the dribble, he can create for himself, and he’s adept at keeping defenders on the hip en route to the cup. Perkin’s strength and mix of dribble moves make him a tough guard off the bounce, but he can also stroke the leather from deep.

6’3 2022 Brock Adams (CC Elite)- Adams is a sharpshooter, a rangy guard prospect who’s consistently ready to let it fly upon the catch. Adams works well off ball where he can navigate space for clean looks, Adams puts himself in position to take smart and high percentage shots. Adams was effective from mid range as well and flashed the running floater, he will also give max effort on the defensive side of the ball. Adams didn’t take possessions off, he is coachable and knows how to play the game.

5’11 2021 Corey Johnson (Upward Stars Bailey) A true floor general, Johnson directs traffic, he was vocal on both ends and assisted teammates getting to their spots. Johnson can also call his own number when needed, he’s got nice burst in the first step, Johnson is also a crafty finisher around the cup. Johnson is a streaky shot-maker off the dribble, he will take and make the three ball if the defense is disrespectful. Johnson is a scrappy defender on ball, he’s got active hands and a solid defensive stance. I like the energy Johnson brings on both ends, he’s a kid you want to go to battle with.
