Phenom Hoops traveled to Greensboro to watch a rivalry between Ben L. Smith and Dudley. These two programs have had tons of success and have built a winning culture. This match-up last night did not disappoint. The game came down to the very end. Maurice Hines knocked in two free throws for Ben L. Smith to take a one-point lead and secured a 64-63 win.

Nashaun Hale 2022 Ben L. Smith
Nashuan was spectacular the entire game. He scored from all 3-levels. Nashuan knocked down multiple shots from the perimeter with his smooth shooting stroke. He also made multiple plays attacking the lane for floaters and lay-ups. He did a great job scoring over bigger defenders and rebounded really well for his size on both the offensive and defensive glass. In addition, Nashaun also impacted the game with his length on the defensive side of the ball getting multiple deflections and steals. He finished the game with 21 points.
Maurice Hines 2021 Ben L. Smith
Maurice made big time plays in the second half. The senior stepped up when his team needed him most. He did a great job attacking the rim. Also, shot the ball really well from the perimeter knocking down two big 3’s in the second half. Maurice showed his clutch genes by knocking down two game winning FT’s to take the lead late in the game. He finished the game with 15 points.
Markquan Gilbert 2023 Ben L. Smith
The sophomore plays a very big role last night for Ben L. Smith. He made a lot of plays that don’t necessarily show up in the score sheet. He ended up with 10 points.
Ayden Gamble 2021 Dudley High School
Ayden is the head of the snake for Dudley. He made some really impressive plays in transition. He also showcased his ability to make plays in the half court. Ayden is an aggressive paint touch guard. Also, illustrated that he is a capable shooter from the perimeter knocking down two 3’s. Ayden uses his athleticism to his advantage and is a great defender, getting multiple steals on and off the ball. He finished the game with 26 points.
Franklin Stockton 2021 Dudley High School
One of the most active players on the court. Does the majority of his work inside the paint but has the ability to beat you off the bounce from the perimeter. Franklin was ultra-aggressive attacking the rim and does a great job controlling the glass. He finished the game with 12 points.
Cam Flippen 2024 Dudley High School
Cam made some big-time shots from the perimeter and off the bounce. He was a big factor in their comeback in the second half. He knocked down back-to-back 3’s in the second half. He finished the game with 12 points.
