Player: Jelani Hamilton
Height: 6’5
Class: 2023
School: Cumberland HS

Cumberland high school, located in Georgia, is going to be a hot program to watch in the coming years and they already have the attention of a few coaches.  We just introduced everyone to Gora Niang, a 2023 prospect, but now we would like to introduce you to 2023 6’5 Jelani Hamilton.

Trust us, he will be a name that you will be quite familiar with within the coming years. We got our first look at the Phenom MLK Showcase, where Patrick O’Brien had this to say after his game. “Only a sophomore but Hamilton is a 6’5 versatile prospect that can play and defend multiple positions on the court. His ability to be another ball-handler, using his length to score over defenders, penetrate the lane or step out with his shot, the sophomore showed a lot about his game and is pegged as one to watch down the road.”

Hamilton’s ability to play and operate from multiple levels is impressive, using his size but showing he can get out in transition and finish, step out from three, and really help his team on the boards and in other areas on the floor.

If that doesn’t impress you enough, Hamilton finished this year against McEachern with 33 points, putting on a clinic and also scoring 28 points against Arlington Christian.  This kid has a ton of tools and is already catching the attention of a few big-time schools. However, this won’t be the last time you hear about Jelani’s game.

Coach’s Thoughts:

“Jelani has played well and in the biggest games, he has stepped up. He is going to be a high-level player that coaches are going to want to see. As he gains weight, he reminds me a lot of Scoot Henderson; he can get to his spot, deadly mid-range, score well. He will be a two at the next level but plays the four for us, so he does a great job at rebounding. He has also really stretched out his outside shooting. Hamilton is a humble and hardworking kid that loves the game and loves the process.”
