At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over a hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III, or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and under-recruited, and today’s edition will highlight Isaiah Ramazani of Calvary Day School.

We’ve seen Ramazani throughout his high school journey, recently stating, “The latest addition to the roster, Isaiah Ramazani, provides a new dynamic and wrinkle to the mix. Between his activity, unselfishness, and low-maintenance presence, he’s the exact type of player this squad needed. Ramazani is a capable scorer from all levels, but prefers to get downhill, attack the basket, and finish or make the appropriate read when the defense collapses. He’s a well-rounded athlete with the blend of IQ, skill, and toughness to make an impact within any type of structure. Ramazani also brings a ton of value through his ability to produce as a primary option or within a role, but still sets the tone by example in both situations. He should have more action from college-level programs.”

Despite being the newest member of the Cougars, Ramazani joined the squad and immediately asserted himself as a team-first leader. This season, he’s posting nightly averages of 13.3 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 3.0 APG, and 1.4 SPG with impressive 53/43/79 shooting splits. Ramazani possesses the necessary blend of IQ, motor, and well-rounded ability to consistently affect all facets of the game. He understands how to get others involved while actively seizing scoring opportunities whenever available. Ramazani is a reliable initiator who can create for himself and others with relative ease but doesn’t force the action. He plays well within himself and the team structure. Ramazani maintains an active presence on the glass, outworks his assignment defensively, and knows how to make plays in transition. His lack of recruitment simply doesn’t make sense, as Ramazani has been a reliable, productive cog in every context and setting. He’s a quality teammate with no baggage and plenty of on-court ability, which should appeal to a variety of next-level suitors.
