Here we take a look at some of the transfers in WNC. There is no particular order and this is just part one. As you can see there has been a lot of movement this year in high school basketball for the western part of the state. Some big names and some under-the-radar names in both parts of these articles!!
2023 6’5” Dante Oliver (Christian Academy TN > Asheville Christian) son of long-time college coach Desmond Oliver. Dante is full of upside & potential. Tall guard that can do a little bit of everything. He currently has offers from NC A&T and Coastal Carolina.
2023 6’0” Theo Antinori (Asheville > Rabun Gap) was one of the leading scorers in WNC last season for Asheville High. He is reclassifying & attending Rabun Gap to join forces with his AAU teammates from Team Swish. Theo is a quick guard that can put up points in a hurry. I expect him to fit right in at Rabun Gap with their high octane offense.
2023 6’4” Emmanuel Richards (Blythewood SC > Christ School) is a strong guard that can straight up get buckets. In my opinion, will be a top 20 player at least in NC 2023 by the end of the year. Had a great summer with Christ School & got the attention of a lot of college coaches. Has offers from Western Carolina, USC Upstate, NC A&T, & Presbyterian.
2024 6’8” Brayden Crump (Winston-Salem Christian > Patton) in my opinion one of the best 2024 players in the state. A lethal combination of shooting ability & size makes Crump a matchup nightmare. Is very capable of averaging 25 & 10 this season even in a very competitive conference.
2023 6’9” Dyllan Barnwell (North Buncombe > Asheville Christian) made a move to Asheville Christian from North Buncombe. Recently reclassified. This hardworking big has good footwork & heart. Gets off the floor & loves to rebound. In my opinion, one of the best bigs in WNC & should have a great couple of years for ACA.
2023 6’0” Jayden Harper (Asheville Christian > A.C. Reynolds) as a freshman was one of the leaders in WNC in assists per game. He will definitely help playmaking & scoring for this Reynolds squad. Good shooter from deep & shifty in the open floor. I think he will be a perfect fit for Reynolds as they try to make a run at the Conference Championship.
2023 5’10” Casian Richard (Carver > Asheville Christian) is an excellent passer that makes all of his teammates better. Is used to playing with stars all spring during travel basketball. Usually takes on the role of distributing the ball but don’t let that fool you he can score as well. Very capable of knocking down the 3 point shot as well.
