What a great event it was this past weekend, with Phenom Hoops bringing in some of the top talents from South Carolina all under one building. A state that has been rich with talent but at times goes under the radar, it seems like there are some players to be found and we are looking to highlight that even more.

2024 DJ Shine from Augusta Christian is a player that we continue to come across and he simply continues to produce on the court.  The 6’0 guard already holds offers but more could be looking his way, especially with the mentality he plays with.  At the South Carolina Top 80, he continued to show his scoring ability, averaging 15.7 points per game. When you talk about his game, Shine is a guard that shows his ability to hit big shot after big shot, creating space for himself, making plays off the dribble, and being a threat from multiple levels. Whether it is getting downhill and finishing over opponents, pulling up and knocking down shots, or showing his range. Shine has good speed and creates well for himself and others.

He holds offers from Western Carolina and USC Upstate already, but others should be looking more his way as Shine looks to have a big year in helping lead the charge.

What Has Been Said:

“Shine has been a player we have spotlighted a few times. Shine was able to “shine” again at the Upward Combine, showing his ability to score from a variety of levels, knock down contested shots, and make strong plays in making plays off the dribble and creating.  He has only continued to be consistent at each event as of late and he should be one college coaches look at more and start tracking.

“2024 DJ Shine (Upward Stars) Is super talented! Has a nice mid-range touch to him and there is really nothing that could speed him up. He was hitting shots and getting to the rim at will. Special kid right here.”

“2024 DJ Shine (Upward Stars 3SSB) has been exceptional all weekend. Another huge game. Has knocked down 3s & been living in the lane. Stock riser.”

“2024 DJ Shine showed why he is a playmaker on the floor. He was effective in getting into the paint to score, finishing through contact, and made plays off the bounce. #PhenomMDC”
