Its that time of year again. The high school season has ended, AAU season is almost here so that means it is time for the annual Phenom 150 in Greensboro NC. This session saw 140 kids come through the doors all looking to make a name for themselves on the hardwood. Several did just that with strong showings on the day. Some of the players you need to know are as follows:

Justin Lucas, 6’1 2018 G at Ashbrook HS – Versatile and athletic guard did a bit of everything here at this camp. He can defend at a plus level, score, pass and defend with the best of them. May not have the ideal size you look for in a player but what he does have is the type of game that makes the game look easy. The game is moving more and more towards do it all types like this. If I’m a D3 I am trying to land this kid today.

Lane Harrill, 6’2 2020 G at Cherryville HS – Good looking shooter in the 2020 class for NC. Kid shows all you look for in a top flight sniper. The release is quick, the range is deep, and the memory is short. Will give you more than just the ability to be a spot up shooter. He jumps into passing lanes, moves the ball well in the offense, and does not mind helping out on the glass. Not sure what the ceiling is here but the floor is going to be high enough that he will garner next level looks before his high school days are through.

Kobe Jones, 6’2 2020 G at Granville Central – Kobe was one of the more athletic players here at this camp. This setting really allowed him to showcase his physical gifts as the tempo was made for how he plays. More athlete than player at this point, he gets production more off his physical abilities than pure skills. The scary part' You can see the skills there waiting to be developed. You can take an athlete and teach them to be a player but you can’t make a player an athlete. This kid has a bright future ahead of him once he learns how to put it all together.

Cohen Gaskins, 6’3 2021 G at Pinewood Prep – Gaskins had a big day at this camp firmly putting notice to the class of 2021 that he was going to be a force to be reckoned with. Kid hit shots from seemingly everywhere and made it look easy in the process. He has a fantastic frame that seems made for the next level and a feel out on the floor you don’t often see in players this young. SC has been putting out some really nice players of late. Look for Cohen to be next off that assembly line.

Corban Strother, 6’6 2018 F at North Mecklenburg HS – One of the highly productive unsigned seniors here at this event. Corban has the length and size you look for at the next level and played with a purpose all day long. While others were showboating, trying to catch the eyes of the scouts and coaches here today, Corban brought his hard hat. Banging in the paint, fighting on the glass, and hitting the floor for extra possessions is what got our eye. Schools looking for productive length with upside still for 2018 need to give him a long look.
