AAU Coach Evaluation: Amar’s growth has been tremendous over the past two years. From a kid who was hesitant to get into drills into a flat out beast who thrives in big moments in a game. He has incredible one on one moves and can create any shot he wants. He has a knack for making the toughest shots on the floor and if you need a bucket, put the ball in his hands and get out the way. And that’s just his offense! He also has shown glimpses of being a lock down defender. His wing span helps with getting deflections and steals. If all goes according to plan this young man should be in consideration for first team all conference honors and should be on the radar for division I schools. He is only going higher. Get on the Amar Hawkins train now. He can flat out play. – Coach Kashif Johnson, TribeNation Basketball Academy

HS Coach Evaluation: Amar is a high level athlete that is very low maintenance. He is super quick and is developing his shot off the dribble to be a long range weapon. He has the capacity to put the ball on the floor and create his own shot, wingspan is that of someone 3-5 inches taller and his ability to get his hands on balls is super. I expect him to lead the team in steals and deflections this year. He has major jumping ability and should create some highlights at the rim this year. He is a very humble and quite young man who is a joy to coach. He needs to get stronger but will project as a solid college prospect by the time he is finished. – Coach Ben Moore, Head Coach – Menchville High School

Coach Frank says: Amar Hawkins is a high IQ floor general who can score in bunches and is very good at getting teammates open looks by using his dribble to draw help or move the defense. He is a very good passer and knows where everyone is on the floor! Amar can use his crafty handle to beat his defender and get into the lane or create separation and knock down the jumper. He can hit the three point basket with very good consistency and can score at the rim. He has good length and is a shifty type playmaker with explosive acceleration. Amar can score off the ball as well; he is always moving to get open and he can hit the jumper with excellent range or use the shot fake and get penetration. He is a very good defender with good anticipation. He has sound defensive technique and quick feet, lateral mobility and he keeps his hands active. Amar is a smart point guard, understands time and situational basketball. He has a great motor and can log a lot of minutes still performing at a high rate. Menchville is young but has some talented players and Amar has accepted a leadership role not only because of his solid on court play but because of is confident and reassuring demeanor. He is not only their floor general; he is their big play guy! He will be a solid college prospect!
