2026 Lance Barnes (Carolina Heights)
Lance led the charge in many ways this morning, but none more so than with his ability to facilitate. He’s a long guard with great instincts as a rebounder that turned into leading the break with really smart decision-making. Saw the floor so well, impressive for a rising eighth-grader to know when to cut as well as read the defense so easily to create for others. He got his own buckets too but definitely did not need to score to impact the game and lead his team to a win.

2025 Dane Cassada (PSB Cassada)
Dane always finds ways to contribute. This morning it was with both his 3 point shooting and his defense. He found his rhythm early and knocked down shots with confidence. And on the other end, he crept into every passing lane, getting his hands on so many balls and creating fastbreak opportunities. Stands out on a very well-balanced PSB squad with his high IQ and how he takes advantage of his strong frame and wingspan at the guard position, which is only bound to increase as he keeps growing.

2024 Richard Goods (Carolina Clutch)
Not to sound like a broken record, but Richard is so strong and efficient as a young post option. He’s automatic inside with an array of post moves, utilizing his long reach and touch. He’s got every quality you want in a big, as he also runs the court so well and is a gifted passer who knows where his teammates are. After already securing his first two offers recently from NC A & T and Western Carolina, look for him to not only have a big year at Smith but also stamp his name as one of the top 2024 bigs in the state.

2027 David Cook (CP3BA)
Going really young with 2027, but David was impressive for his team in the comeback win. The big man was needed big time defensively to protect the rim and brought a lot of energy to that assignment. He also put together a strong second half, especially near the end as his team came from behind double digits to pull out a rallying win. He himself went on an 8-0 run where he stroked back-to-back threes to get his team pumped.
