6’2 ’28 James Ferguson (Freedom Christian)

Quietly one of the most productive performers on display, James Ferguson simply has a knack for impacting the game. He’s a steady, well-rounded wing who does legitimately everything on the court. Ferguson displays a high motor, incredible nose for the ball, and an understanding of how to consistently fill in the gaps on both ends of the floor. He’s one of the best rebounders you’ll find at his size. Ferguson anticipates really well to crash the glass and force turnovers defensively. He showed the ability to initiate the offense, make the extra pass, and mix it up as a scorer from all levels.
5’10 ’28 AJ Morman (Southern Durham)

It should come as no surprise to see AJ Morman standing out yet again as a focal point for the Spartans. He’s a smart, crafty floor general who reliably dictates the action with the ball in his hands. Morman possesses a tight handle and quick first step, which allows him to effortlessly break down opponents and make plays off the bounce. He mixes it up as a scorer from all levels, but is also a sharp playmaker who prioritizes setting up others in scoring positions. Morman defends with energy and toughness at the point of attack, and highlights great instincts to force turnovers.
6’3 ’29 Gradyn West (Grace Christian)

Given his status as the only freshman listed, it’s clear that folks should start paying close attention to Gradyn West. He’s already such a polished, versatile player whose blend of IQ, skill, and overall instincts makes him a real problem for opponents. West highlighted the ability to score in several ways, both with and without the ball in his hands. He scores the ball well from all levels and knows how to apply pressure as a cutter, spot-up threat, or creator. West rebounded and made plays defensively. He’s clearly trending as one of the top players in North Carolina’s Class of 2029.
6’5 ’27 Christian Baynes (Fayetteville Academy)

Although there were several standouts on this roster, Christian Baynes was arguably their most valuable x-factor. He possesses a strong frame with a high motor and terrific nose for the ball. Baynes is a versatile two-way player who can guard multiple positions, rebound bigger than his size, and do a variety of things offensively. He excels at attacking the basket and applying pressure in the open floor, but can knock down open jumpers as needed. Baynes is a capable playmaker who makes smart passes with the ball in his hands.
6’1 ’27 JaVon Motta (Trinity Christian)

It’s easy to appreciate the balance Trinity Christian displays as a group, but JaVon Motta has clearly transitioned into a leadership role for the Crusaders. He possesses a long, wiry frame with an appealing blend of skill and athleticism. Motta is comfortable running the team with his balanced, unselfish approach and picking his spots or getting others involved. He’s a well-rounded scorer who mixes it up well from all levels. Motta is a solid defender and rebounder who possesses clear upside on both ends of the floor.
