Player: Mekhi Turner
Class: 2024
Height: 6’8
AAU: Wood Elite
High School: Maynard Jackson

What Was Said at Phenom G3 Event: “Turner and the whole Wood Elite program really came to the Phenom Hoops platform and showcased the talent they had, and Turner was one that played extremely well.  Turner is a 6’8 prospect that checks the boxes of athleticism, being active, physical, and has the ability to operate inside and out.  When you watch his game, you can see why schools are looking more his way and why he holds a few D1 offers already.”

Diving More into His Game:

As we mentioned above, Phenom Hoops was really impressed with the overall talent from Wood Elite; they are a program that deserves more attention overall with the players the bring to the floor. But the one that I really enjoyed watching was 2024 6’8 Mekhi Turner from Maynard Jackson high school.

Turner has a lot of factors in his game that you have to like and that makes him a D1-type player. He checks off the boxes with his size, his athleticism, and is comfortable in bringing a presence to the court in a variety of ways. He was extremely active around the basket, whether it was finishing with authority at the rim, running the floor and attacking the paint, being a strong force on the glass, or also making a presence in protecting the rim defensively. But you have to also like his ability to work inside and out, showing his comfort level from the perimeter (which would more than likely be developed when he was younger, and he hit his growth spurt). With his wingspan and his overall feel for the game, he should be a target for many more schools, having plenty of eyes his way this summer.

Recruitment:

Right now, Turner holds two offers from Kennesaw State and Jackson State but when talking to him, he has earned interest from schools like Loyola Maryland, Ohio, UAB, Texas A&M, Wofford, Clemson, USC Upstate, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulane, Chattanooga, SMU, Louisiana Tech, Georgia State, and Wake Forest.

Talking to the Player (Game Description):

“Athletic, great all-around defender, versatile offensively, high motor, and my IQ is crazy, and I can space the floor as well with my jumper.”
