We have heard the early buzz around South Meck and it starts with head coach Gary Hall, one of the top coaches in the country who is now looking to make his mark in North Carolina with the Sabres. He has the winning pedigree and knowledge of the game, and it seems that he has earned some early traction with the program now.
Phenom Hoops was able to check out some of the talent that should shine this season.
2024 Bishop Boswell
Boswell really came on to the scene this summer, capturing the eyes of many and eventually earning his first offer early on. He brings a tremendous 6’3 frame already, playing with a great IQ and feel early on, but he is only scratching the surface of his potential. Early on though, he plays with a great pace and has a smooth ability to score the ball on multiple levels. He could be regarded as one of the top players in his class early on.
2021 Joseph Ferrante
Ferrante is a skilled forward and will be one of the go-to leaders on the court. He plays with ease, showing a tremendous IQ and is fundamentally sound in the paint. Ferrante nearly averaged a double-double last year and should only continue to see his game rise this season. He has a soft touch around the rim, but also can finish strong in the paint. Ferrante does a good job running the floor and getting on the boards.
2021 Bryson Nesbit
Skilled big that moves really well on the court. When watching him this summer, he does a lot of the little things that help his team win, on both sides of the floor. Incredibly nimble on his feet, while also showing his ability to move well inside and out on the floor. Going to play a key piece for this program.
2021 Trent Lose
Another senior that will help in several ways on the court. When watching Lose, he brings good size and experience, but also one that can knock down shots as well. Last season, he really was one that provided help in several areas, whether it was scoring, rebounding, and finding his teammates.
2023 Michael Nesbit
Michael is the younger brother of Bryson, as he brings a good size frame and is a tremendous athlete on the court. He also shows that he can knock down shots.
2022 Dion Thompson
Dion brings a long frame for his position. He has a good wingspan that can really create havoc against opponents. He slashes well and is going to be counted on to be a defensive presence.
2022 Daniel Taylor
Taylor is a high-motor type or player. The lefty shooter is one that could carve out some time as well for this team.
2022 Jalen Alexander
Another football prospect, Alexander can help bring the muscle and power down low, understanding a role that plays with a physical mindset. Really could help provide help and depth inside with his 6’5 frame.
This program will also have two young freshmen in 2024 Sincere Rasul and 2024 Peter Moye, both should see some time as they continue to grow and develop.
South Meck will also have 2022 Trey Hood, 2021 Aiden Mitchell, 2021 Jack Rothacker, 2021 Stephen Fry, 2023 Kobe Phannavong, and 2022 Braden Jordan that could help with this program.
