Anthony Greene 6’3 200 2023 Hopewell High School, Hopewell VA
You rarely if ever hear the term “bruiser” when referring to a guard but in this case, it fits. Athletic and surprisingly nimble, Anthony Greene is a bruising and bullish guard who knows how to use his large frame to get leverage and get to the rim. A complimentary combination of size, strength, and some shifty playmaking skills makes him a productive playmaker using the dribble. He flashes a crafty handle featuring a nice crossover and a change of pace.
Capitalizing on his strength, Anthony uses an active off-hand to gain leverage and uses an armbar to hold the defenders off. Once he gets downhill he accelerates nicely and attacks the rim aggressively. Anthony also uses a spin move and a pull-up jumper when the lane is congested and shows a nice touch on the jumper. He fights off contact nicely and finishes at a good rate at the rim. He’s very good with the pull-up jumper and uses his strong frame to create separation. He is a freight train in the open floor but decelerates nicely where he uses some stutter-step action or crossovers and nifty footwork to get defenders off balance. Anthony defends the wing capably showing good lateral mobility and quicker feet than you might expect from a player his size. His strong and durable frame makes him a factor in the paint as well.
Anthony will be an impact player at the high school level as he has competed against high school level players for the past three years in AAU and in summer and fall leagues with success. Add him to your top 2023 list!
