Even though they lost three senior starters and another three role players who transferred out, they reloaded with quick and explosive guard play. Phenom Open Gym: Independence
Continuing our Phenom Open Gym Tour, Patrick O’Brien went down to Independence high school who is coming off a 22-8 season last year. Coach Davis will have a different looking team than last year, as they will be more of a guard-oriented team that looks to play fast, create havoc defensively, and attack. Phenom Hoops was back on the road once again, continuing their Phenom Open Gym Tour. We checked in on Winston Salem Christian, as Coach Antonio Lowe is looking to bring a talented group to the court. A program that is relatively unknown, WS Christian immediately stands out with the amount of size they bring and skill, as they should be one of the premier teams in the state.

Phenom Open Gym: Covenant Day
A program that really is starting to make waves around the western part of the state, Covenant Day looks to be heading in the right direction. Coach Marty Parrish has done a tremendous job and is coming off a 17-win season but this may be his most talented team he has had. A blend of star power, skill, size, and ability, the Lions seems to be a program that many will want to get out and watch this year, as they are loaded with talent this year.

Phenom Open Gym: Mallard Creek
Mallard Creek brings in a new coach in Coach McNeil, as they look to get back on the winning track and make their mark in the Charlotte area. Getting a chance to watch this team during their open gym, this is a program that will look to be faster, pushing the pace and scoring in transition. They will have a chance to spread the floor with the number of guards on the court, but they will have to have a team mentality on the defensive end and on the boards with the lack of size.
