The Chargers like to get up and down and score in the 80's. For Leesville Road, 6’4 junior Carter Whitt leads the way and will be looking for an estimated mid-January return of Jalen McDonald. In addition, Leesville Road also gets double-digit scoring from 5’9 junior Chase Hakerem, 6’4 junior Scott Martin, and 6’3 senior Deon Daniels. Carter Whitt is a natural level prospect that is one of the better passing point guards in the country.

Last season, Millbrook went 27-2 and lost in the NCHSAA 4A state championship to South Central. This season head coach Christopher Davis has his team “locked and loaded” for another run at the state championship and is already regarded as one of the premier teams in the state. Head coach Rob Salter led Greenfield to a 33-4 record and the NCISAA 1A state championship. Both teams are extremely well-coached and this may be the toughest opening day contest. Millbrook came into the John Wall Holiday Invitational with an 11-0 record while Greenfield sat with a 14-2 record.

Year in and year out, Kinston competes for the NCHSAA 2A state championship and this year’s team is no exception. They feature one of the state’s best juniors in 6’7 Dontrez Styles. Moravian Prep National team is coached by Antonio Lowe and has one of the better teams nationally. They feature 6’9 five Star NC State commit Josh Hall and 6’0 four Star NC State commit Shakeel Moore.

Head coach Larry Williford of Farmville Central brings tradition and one of the state’s most talented teams regardless of affiliation. They have played in back to back NCHSAA 2A state championships and went 32-0 last season. This season they are off to another outstanding start and have won 41 consecutive games over the past two seasons. Leading the way is 6’3 NC Central commit Justin Wright and 6’3 junior Terquavion Smith, who is verbally committed to NC State. Broughton first-year head coach Clarence Coleman is rebuilding from last year’s team that went 17-10 and graduated the majority of their starters but has a promising young freshman in 6’0 Will Otto.
