Players are coming off the board in the class of 2023, and one program that has been making a recent statement has been Johnson C. Smith.  The Golden Bulls have been making their mark in the state of North Carolina with a few recent commitments, and they are bringing in size to help the future.

As of right now, Johnson C. Smith has earned commitments from 2023 Asa White, 2023 Tyson Barrett, and 2023 Jared Davis, all of which can help bring size and depth around the basket.  These three will certainly help out to go with forward Javon Floyd, who is coming off a season in which he averaged 12.3ppg and 6.6rpg.  Due to the loss of Augustine Ominu, these three should certainly come in and be able to help the roster.

Let’s dive into what these three players can bring:

2023 Asa White – White is a 6’8 forward that brings a presence on both ends and does what is needed for his team to win.  He is a capable finisher around the rim along with touch. White also brings good athleticism to the table, can step out and knock down mid-range shots, and moves well all throughout the court.  But he also does the dirty work, attacking the boards, blocking shots, and making those hustle plays.

2023 Tyson Barrett – Barrett is another 6’8 prospect that brings a ton of energy and athleticism to the table.  He is a low-maintenance type of player but is one that produces when the opportunity is there.  He is a powerful finisher at the rim, runs the floor well, and plays with toughness. But Barrett also excels in operating from an array of levels, makes good reads and passes, and has good defensive instincts.

2023 Jared Davis – Davis is a 6’6 prospect that went a bit under the radar, but he has been consistent in his production.  Davis is a strong, physical prospect that can fill it up. He uses his sturdy frame in an array of ways, whether it is producing around the basket finishing with both hands, being assertive on the glass, and really setting the tone on the court.  Davis was a useful and consistent contributor all throughout high school, and he looks to bring the same to Johnson C. Smith.

These three all should help Johnson C. Smith in the coming years, not only bringing depth around the paint but also bringing production to the floor.
