It has been an exciting month of high school basketball for Phenom Hoops, one team that we have seen quite a few times on the court has been Coach Joe Badgett and Queens Grant. This is a team that is very interesting as they offer a unique blend of talent, experience, and youth. There are plenty of experienced prospects that lead the way but what makes this team so interesting is the young talent that is stepping up in a big way. This past weekend at the Phenom Lakesgiving, three freshmen stepped up in a big way and they look to be the future of this program.

We break down each of their games as these are players to learn more about.

2028 Chase Smith

Smith has been a known name for some time now, as the 6’8 big man has been a strong force for Queens Grant early on this year. He continues to show skill and feel around the basket, has a great frame for his age to be physical in the paint, displays touch and feel, and is strong on the boards. Smith gives this team a strong force and balance down low, and Smith is just starting his high school career.

2028 Mekhi Allen

Allen has always been an interesting prospect and there is a lot of potential as he continues to develop and add more to his game. He presents great positional size and it is clear that he has added more to his game, making him an effective option inside and out. He moves well, gets to his spot, can be a big threat from the perimeter, and presents good athleticism. Allen offers a lot with his game along with a ton of upside in the coming years.

2028 Bobby Montgomery

Montgomery is a tough, gritty, and competitive guard and he recently showed that in the latest Phenom Hoops event. Montgomery is comfortable with the ball in his hands and being a playmaker, but does a great job in getting to his spots and being a big threat from the perimeter. But he also showed he isn’t afraid to create off the dribble and find ways to score over defenders.
