Every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or see a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player. Here is the latest commitment.

Player: LJ Rush
Class: 2025
Committed to: Drake

Phenom 1-on-1:

Phenom: What made Drake the place for you in the end, and what kind of relationship were you able to build with the staff there?

Rush: The opportunity was given, and it was great for me as a program. I have been able to build a great relationship so far with them; they are a great group of people.

Phenom: What do they have planned for you at your position?

Rush: As of right now, they have just told me that they want me to come in and earn my spot.

Phenom: What stood out about the program or style? And what will your focus be now?

Rush: Their style of play really caught my eye. They like to play fast and push the tempo.  As far as my focus, I’m just going to keep working on my game and try to get better every day.

What Has Been Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Rush is such an intriguing and fun guard to watch operate on the court. With his quickness and speed out in the open floor, his ability to blow by defenders off the bounce, and he is one of the most explosive guards in the state of North Carolina. Whether he is flying high at the rim, pushing and attacking out in transition, scoring off the bounce, or knocking down shots from the perimeter, Rush understands how to put on a show. What sets him apart from many is his speed though, putting that on display both offensively and defensively. He can get into passing lanes, turn defense into offense, and makes it hard for opponents to stay in front of him as he attacks off the dribble.”

“When you talk about his game, his quickness, athleticism, and playmaking certainly capture your eyes immediately. Once again, he is electric with the ball in his hands, simply blowing by defenders, attacking in transition, and being a strong scoring presence off the dribble. Rush, for his size, is quite impressive with his athleticism to finish at the rim along with body control around defenders. He also continues to make strides with his perimeter game.  No doubt about it, he has proven he is a D1 talent as Phenom Hoops caught up with him on some of the latest.”

“He can be an electric game-changer on the court with the ball in his hands but also creates a lot of problems on both sides of the floor. With his speed, creativity, and change of direction, Rush is so tough to stay in fron,t and when you add on his athleticism, he can put on a show. Driving and attacking the paint, as well as finishing at the rim is impressive with his game but he can also hurt you from the perimeter.  He uses that same speed to stay in front of defenders and be a pest as well.  With what we have seen at the Fall League, Rush should continue to be a priority for college programs.”
