Stat Leaders:

Rolesville: Jayvon Chestnut 14pts, AJ Roberts 14pts, Jacob Clemons 10pts
Leesville: Nylan Rush 19pts, Devin Goldston 24pts

Out in the central part of the state, Rolesville hit the road to take on Leesville Road in what was a highly entertaining matchup. Leesville Road was able to jump out to an early lead at the end of the first quarter behind the player of their two guards.  Rolesville was able to edge a bit into the lead heading into halftime, as both teams struggled in the second quarter.  Chestnut and company ramped it up a bit in the third quarter, attacking and getting to the line to cut Leesville Road’s lead down to four points heading in the final quarter. That is when the play of Roberts, Chestnut, and others stepped up, outscoring Leesville Road 23-11 in the fourth quarter to take home an impressive road win.

Standouts:

Rolesville:

  • 2026 Jayvon Chestnut was one that really impressed me and I believe changed the game, especially with his energy, fight, and impact on the second half. As a 6’4 prospect, he used his length to attack and get inside the defense, finishing around the basket or finding ways to get the line. His activity levels all-around really made a difference in this game, as he scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half.
  • 2027 AJ Roberts, a well-known football prospect, played with tenacity and physicality, constantly putting the ball on the deck and getting downhill. Whether he was finishing strong around the basket, getting to the line, or attacking the boards, Roberts’ play and motor could be seen and helped his team to a victory.

Leesville Road

  • 2026 Devin Goldston, a Wake Forest football commit, was the go-to scoring option in this game for his team. He clearly showed his ability and willingness to attack off the dribble, get paint touches, and create for himself as well as be a threat from outside with multiple threes in this game.  He had a strong 24-point showing to lead all scorers.
  • 2027 Nylan Rush is one that has seen his stock rise and brings a lot of intrigue with his game. With his length and size at his position, Rush was able to get to his spots well and knock down jumpers inside as well as form behind the arc. He is a playmaking guard that sees the floor well, makes good reads, and finds his teammates well off the dribble. He had several big plays for his team in this game.
