Whether timing, context, or something completely unforeseen, there are so many factors that go into an individual’s recruitment to the college ranks. Although scouts and coaches tend to agree on plenty of prospects, there are certainly exceptions at every level. So, although we’ve already previously written a different iteration of this same article nearly four months ago, we will try again. Trent Clark is undoubtedly a college-level talent who is currently having one of the most dominant seasons throughout North Carolina. Let’s take a closer look…
It’s perplexing to try to make sense of his recruitment, seeing how he’s only received one offer (Lee’s McRae) in the last twelve months. However, one glance at his ridiculous production ,and it feels like several more schools should be involved. Clark is currently averaging 26.9 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 4.5 APG, and 4.2 SPG with impressive 55/38/83 splits. He leads the team in three of five major statistical categories while setting the tone on both ends of the floor. While it goes without saying, Clark is a massive part of the Black Hawks’ 10-5 record.
Although the stats speak volumes by themselves, it’s worth noting that this is nothing new for Clark. Actually, it’s somewhat normal for the floor general. This is his third consecutive season averaging at least 23 PPG. However, he’s also elevated his rebounding and assist numbers each year during that span. Clark is a smart, efficient point guard who knows how to run a team and alter his approach as needed. As evidenced by his gaudy scoring totals, he’s more than capable of asserting himself as a primary option or playmaking threat. It’s difficult to say anything other than glowing positives about what he brings to a team, regardless of setting. College coaches still looking to bolster their point guard position should be in pursuit of Clark.
