Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: El Ellis
Class: 2021
Committed to: Louisville
What the Player Said:
PHR: What factors went into your decision?
Ellis: It has always been a dream of mine to play in the ACC. I built a great relationship with Coach Mack and Coach Dino, and being able to compete for a national championship at a blue-blood school on the highest stage in college basketball is something I couldn’t turn down.
PHR: What were some other factors that made Louisville the place for you?
Ellis: Coach Mack lets his guys play and not have too look over their shoulder if they make a mistake. I have the opportunity to make an immediate impact.
PHR: What did the staff have to say when you informed them? How do they want to use you in their system?
Ellis: They were very excited. They said I made the best decision of my life. Being able to make plays for myself and my teammates is how I will fit in their system.
PHR: Have you been able to talk to any other commits in your class for them? Develop any relationship with them so far?
Ellis: Yeah, I have. I’m talking to Bryce and Bobby all the time. We have a pretty good relationship. I’ve known Bobby (Pettiford) for a while but I’m just meeting Bryce. I’m ready to play with them for sure.
PHR: For people that haven’t seen your game, how would you best describe your game?
Ellis: Play-making guard that can get myself or my teammate’s shots. I’m a leader and will do anything to win.
PHR: How has this whole journey been for you and what has it shown you?
Ellis: It has been a long journey but I’ve enjoyed it. I see now that hard work will take you a long way.
