We continue our look at a few travel ball programs that will certainly be ones to watch for this summer… when we all can get back on the court.

Next up, we look at Team HUSL 2023, a program based out of Lake Wylie/ Rock Hill area. In talking with Coach Baker about his team, he breaks down his players and what they bring to the court.

2023 6’7 Nate Self (Clover HS)

Coaches Take: “Nate is a monster and keeps growing physically and mentally. He has tremendous value as a post and as a help defender. Has an unselfish offensive game, sees the court well and facilitates but is not limited to post-play only, he continues to improve his outside game.”

2023 5’11 JJ Mata (Clover HS)

Coaches Take: “Mata took a leap last season at the point guard spot and continues to expand his game. Strong handle and long arms, can really create and score on all three levels. Versatile and aggressive on the court. Can play multiple spots.”

2023 5’9 Jake Baker (Clover HS)

Coaches Take: “Versatile player with high IQ and great shooting range. Took a leap last season playing 3 positions (1-3) and often guards the opponents’ best offensive player. Tireless, physical, unselfish, does a little of everything.”

2023 6’0 Stephen Quinn (Elevation Prep)

Coaches Take: “best shooter in the 2023 class in the entire area, and I stand behind that. Really improved his defense and handle, can guard the post and wing, high IQ. Has played 4 positions for us, continues to expand his game. Great range!”

2023 5’11 Malik McCullough (Chester HS)

Coaches Take: “strong, physical, ultimate athlete with versatility and bounce. A rebounding force who has really improved his outside game and handles. Scores on all three levels and can guard 1-5. He continues to improve his outside touch. Aggressive.”

2023 6’2 Hunter Jaime (Clover High)

Coaches Take: “Hunter is a very versatile, athletic addition. Can play 4 spots, physical, quick, and has bounce. Can score at all three levels. All-around game with a strong handle and shooting touch. He can do everything. Athlete.”

2023 6’2 Haiden Akins (Clover High)

Coaches Take: “Haiden is strong with quick feet. Will be an asset as a post and wing defender, nonstop motor. Adds a physical element to our team, relentless on the boards, great spring in his legs. Quick learner, developing his outside game.”

2023 5’6 Jordan Anderson (Clover High)

Coaches Take: “Jordan has tremendous short-area quickness and can create space in a small box. He has tremendous range and touch on his jumper, strong handles. He adds another deep weapon to our team. High IQ.”

2023 6’0 Zi Dixon (York High)

Coaches Take: “Zi is athletic, quick, and strong. Plays bigger than his 6’, will play multiple spots and defend post and wing. I was surprised to find out how well he shoots, can score at three levels. Adds a physical element to our group, will take off when we get back to work.”
