Phenom Hoops introduced our readers this past weekend to a player on our own platform, but certainly, one that has the attention of national outlets and college coaches everywhere. Writing recently about 2024 Trent Perry from Harvard-Westlake, this is a junior point guard that has been playing at an extremely high level and really impressed us with his feel for the game recently.
When watching Perry in action against Notre Dame recently, here is what we had to say:
“2024 Trent Perry (Harvard-Westlake) showed why he is one of the premier guards in the country. Excellent feel for the game, shot maker with range, can create and get to his spots off the bounce well, tremendous facilitator, and plays with an excellent pace. Fluid release in his shot, knocked down multiple threes, and really stepped up as a leader in this one. Can easily see why so many schools have already offered him.”
Speaking about offers and schools, Perry now holds offers from Santa Clara, USC, Vanderbilt, California, Oklahoma, Stanford, Portland State, LMU, Hawaii, Rice, Long Beach State, and now UCLA.
Phenom Hoops caught up with the impressive junior to learn more about his game, his season, and a small update on his recruitment; see what he had to say.
Phenom: You have had a special season so far. How has it been though in your eyes and how special has it been so far for you'
Perry: It has been very special to see big jumps from not only myself but from the program as a whole. We’ve been a family since Day 1 and it is great to see everyone come together at the most crucial times.
Phenom: You have helped lead the charge. What has been your focus and mindset all season long so far'
Perry: To create a big impact on winning and to have fun. I’m very fortunate to have the freedom and great group of guys around me to be able to keep my focus and mindset each day.
Phenom: How would you best describe your game'
Perry: A do-it-all-player.
Phenom: How has recruitment been going' What has been the latest your way'
Perry: Recruitment has been pretty good. Besides all my offers, I’ve gotten good interest from Gonzaga, Virginia, and Saint Mary’s.
Phenom: You just received an offer from UCLA. What are your thoughts on the program, how familiar are you with them, and what do you like early on'
Perry: UCLA is a great program that has a great culture and plays against the best competition. They’ve watched me for a good while now so it didn’t just take one spectacular game to get the offer. When Coach Cronin told me it was just straight to the point.
Phenom: What schools have been recruiting you the hardest in your eyes these days'
Perry: USC, Vanderbilt, and LMU have been doing so in my opinion, just because they will either call or text me frequently.
