Patrick Wessler has been quite a familiar name for Phenom Hoops and for many around the region and we can all agree that he is rising up the rankings (or should be) nationally with what he has been showing this spring and summer.

But no matter what the rankings show, college coaches are noticing his talent and potential. This is why Wessler has been racking up the offers, now holding ones from Iowa, Coastal Carolina, Providence, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, East Carolina, Creighton, South Florida, Charlotte, Wake Forest, and Elon.

We caught up with the big man with CC Elite and Combine Academy to dive in the latest around his recruitment.  See what he had to say.

Phenom: You have had a terrific summer so far with CC Elite, playing with your guys you are quite familiar with. What has it been like for you this summer'
Wessler: It has been great because we are playing really well. We won our last tournament, so it has been awesome.

Phenom: How fun has it been playing with your teammates and a program that you are quite familiar with'
Wessler: It is great because I’ve been playing with most of those guys all my life and we have a great feel for each other and we know what is up.

Phenom: How do you think you have elevated your game from last summer to where you are today'
Wessler: I just think my mobility is way better; it has been much, much better.

Phenom: You have been putting in the work this summer and I’m sure with the staff at Combine Academy. What have they been working with you on and your game'
Wessler: Coach Jeff is really big on defense, so there has been a lot of focus on that as well as speed and agility.

Phenom: Recruitment-wise, wanted to ask you about your latest. Iowa was the latest as well as Coastal Carolina. Iowa was a big one; what was it like to get that offer'
Wessler: It was very, very interesting to get that offer, I really like Iowa. Coach McCaffery talked to me and it is a big offer because they just had Garza there as their big. I’ve been able to watch him and see how they used him; I’m really excited about it.

Phenom: What about Coastal Carolina, being in North Carolina. What has it been like with them'
Wessler: I’ve talked to them a couple of times. They are pretty good and I like them.

Phenom: You have a few visits coming up with Virginia Tech and Providence. What made those two programs the first two you want to visit'
Wessler: Virginia Tech was one of my first really big offers and I’ve talked to their staff a lot. I feel like they are genuinely interested in me and I like that.

Phenom: What about Providence'
Wessler: Same thing. Coach Cooley has been very active with me and they have said how they would like me to come start for them, so I’m very interested in them.

Phenom: You also mentioned that Iowa and East Carolina are two other visits you may want to take'
Wessler: They want me to come in the fall to get the full effect.

Phenom: You spoke about Iowa earlier but what about East Carolina intrigues you'
Wessler: I’ve had a couple talks with Coach Dooley. Kind of the same thing, they think I can come play right from the start which intrigues me.

Phenom: Do you have any other schools that you want to visit or that intrigue you'
Wessler: Those are really the big ones right now. I recently got a call from West Virginia and they want me to come and visit, so I will see about that. Also, Cincinnati as well.

Phenom: What did West Virginia have to say to you'
Wessler: They just said they want to get on my radar and they are interested in me. They just wanted to get to know me, first talk.

Phenom: Cincinnati, now with Coach Miller; what has been their relationship like with you'
Wessler: I think they are interested in me as well. I’ve had talks with the assistant coach as well as Coach Miller. I’m excited to see where that relationship goes.

Right now, Virginia Tech and Providence will be visits during the summer, while Iowa and East Carolina will come in the fall.
