The Phenom PG Nationals brought some of the best teams from around the region to compete for a championship, as the Silver Division had elite talent all over the place. In the end, we had a tremendous battle between two teams that left it all out there, with The Academy Prep coming away with a 69-68 victory against Moc Valley. Let’s dive into their run.
vs. Moravian Prep Regional: Won 84-74
vs. Greater Destiny Prep: Won 81-67
vs. Combine Elite: Won 85-68
vs. Moc Valley: Won 69-68
Coming all the way from Georgia, this was a title and a run that meant so much for this team and it could be seen after the final buzzer. With tears coming down and dancing on the court after, The Academy Prep was able to lock in all weekend long and take home a title in the Silver Division, and it wasn’t an easy road.
They had several tight battles throughout, but they were able to come away with the wins. 2025 Jullien Cole was outstanding throughout the event, as the 6’4 guard was assertive and aggressive, got downhill, and scored with consistency throughout. 2026 6’9 Rho Omed was a new name that captured our attention and is one we see a ton of potential with his ability to score off the bounce and knock down shots from outside. And 2026 Daniel Hollis was another who put on a strong show with his ability to finish at the rim and showcase his athleticism. But credit to the players like 2025 Jamier Nowell, 2026 Heavin McCain, and others who also stepped up and really brought a balanced attack overall. This was truly a team championship, locking in and coming together, competing on both sides of the ball, and coming up big in the championship game to secure a title at the Phenom PG Nationals.
