Team 3
Head Coach Nate Livesay of Beaufort High School
#8 5’9” 2017 Darius Bryant of Lexington High School
Bryant came into camp with a reputation as a bucket getter. He led his high school team in scoring as a sophomore. During camp, Bryant showed the ability to run a team. Bryant’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Darius showed a nice handle and was able to penetrated well at times. He knocked down shots when he had times, and took good shots.” Darius has a chance to be a very good player as he continues to work on his ability to run a team.
#13 6’ 2017 Tracus Chisholm of York Prep (Rock Hill)
Chisholm is a guy who always finds himself around the ball, putting his team in a position to win. Chisholm is a winning type player that may not pass the look test, but excels when it comes to the play test. Chisholm’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Tracus displayed a great attitude and was very coachable. Hey played very hard on both ends and was able to make some exceptional plays. He knocked down shots, rebounded in traffic, and made his team mates better.” There is a lot to like with Chisholm as he seems to be a player guys like playing with. College coaches need to take notice here.
#23 6’ 2016 Jordan Leath of Oakbrook Prep (Greenville)
Leath is a true point guard and a vocal leader on the floor. He did a good job dictating pace on both ends and was not afraid to pick up his man for 94 feet. Leath’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Jordan did a good job on both ends. He has a great attitude, is very coachable, and seemed to have a good feel for the game.” As Leath continues to develop we would like to see him work on his decision making. However is a player that is flying under the radar and college coaches, at the appropriate level, need to take a look at.
#24 6’1” 2016 Dre’Von Sweat of Irmo High School
Sweat came into camp showing a great attitude. He was a very good defender, showing to have a high motor and great anticipation. Sweat’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Dre’Von had some nice moments throughout the day. He made open shots when they came to him. He also did a good job on defense in the half court and in transition.”
#47 6’4” 2017 Jamal Bryant of Wilson High School (Florence)
Bryant came into the camp with a purpose, and he competed on both ends of the court with equal vigor. Bryant seemed to thrive on doing the tough guy stuff, rather it be finishing at the rim or grabbing an important rebound. Bryant’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Jamal showed great effort on both ends of the court. He consistently made the physical play.” Overall Bryant had an outstanding effort and attitude and is a player scholarship schools should begin to monitor now.
#48 6’5” 2017 Brandon Martin of Cardinal Newman (Columbia)
Martin has good size and came into the camp with a great attitude. He plays a very physical brand of basketball that allows him to find production on the court. Martin’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Brandon has nice size and was able to make some nice plays throughout the day. He has nice form on his shot and played very physical, enabling him to rebound the ball very well.”Martin plays a great role on the court and his production is one that is hard to go unnoticed.
#60 6’6” 2019 Juwan Gary of Gray Collegiate (Columia)
From the get go there was zero doubt that Gary is an elite talent. He has outstanding athleticism and the ability to make shots from all over the court. Gary’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Juwan showed flashes of exceptional ability. He was very competitive, as he turned several offensive rebounds into buckets.” As Juwan continues to develop we would like to see him watch his body language on the court, but there is no denying he is a national level prospect tracking at the highest level.
#71 6’6” 2017 DJ Johnson of Timberland High School (St. Stephen)
Johnson wasted no time making his mark on the camp. His first sequence in, he grabbed a defensive rebound, filled the lane, and finished with a dunk at the other end. Johnson has great length and effort to match his athleticism. Johnson’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “DJ plays with great effort and energy and is very aggressive both on offense and defense. He showed good touch inside and was able to consistently knock down 18’ jump shots.” As Johnson continues to progress we would like to see him shore up his ball skills and extend his range. He is a play scholarship programs should go ahead start the process with.
#88 6’8” 2019 DJ Burns of York Prep (Rock Hill)
Burns’ game far exceeds his age and experience. For starters the lefty has great hands and soft touch. He showed good footwork with his back to the basket and the ability to pass, attack, or shoot from the high post area. Burns’ camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “DJ is a terrific young man and a terrific talent. He showed the ability to score with his back to the basket and a nice face up game with good feet and soft hands. Burns attempted to defend and rebound and showed a great attitude toward the game and toward coaching.” With normal gains in conditioning and strength he should track at the highest level and wind up one of the top players, in his class, nationally.
#89 6’8” 2018 Jake Lanford of Porter Gaud (Charleston)
Lanford came into the camp with little to no fanfare, however that quickly changed after he started to play. He showed a willingness to post hard and play within 5 feet of the basket, with a purpose. Lanford’s camp coach Nate Livesay stated, “Jake has a chance to be a very solid post player. He plays with great effort, works hard to get open in the post, and rebounds his position adequately.” As Lanford continues to grow we would like to see him develop strength in his base and core. While he does have some post moves, we would like to see him continue to develop some without the use of a dribble. A lot to like with this one and D1s need to get him on their SIM Card quickly.
