6’7 ’16 Grant Williams is always looking for respect. Last year at the inaugural Phenom Hoop National High School Showcase, Grant Williams and Providence Day went “toe to toe” with national powerhouse Huntington Prep before losing in the game’s final thirty seconds. Williams demonstrated a toughness and competitive spirit that almost willed his team to the upset win. That being said, Grant’s statue seem to grow, but many of the high majors were still a bit bashful in terms of offering him.

At the March NC Top 80, Grant showcased a beautiful set of offensive moves. We wrote, “Grant is a highly skilled face up power forward. He has the strength to over power opponents with back to back to the basket moves, but the ability to step out and knock down the perimeter jumper, especially from the 3-point line. Grant has excellent footwork in the post and passer friendly hands. In addition, Grant is a skilled passer out of the post and his court vision for his size/position is as good as it gets.

Currently, Grant is taking official visits to Yale and Tennessee. He is schedule to visit Yale on September 4th while a trip to Knoxville, Tennessee is scheduled for the September 12th. He is also looking at scheduling an official visit to Boston College, but has not set a date yet.

With the 2nd Annual Phenom Hoop National HS Showcase set for November 13-14th, Grant was excited about a return trip to play in this event. In the typical confident fashion, Grant texted us and stated, “Can we play Oak Hill on opening night'” The cerebral and high academic Grant is one that has always enjoyed the challenge. It’s his personality and in his DNA. You see, Grant challenges himself everyday on the basketball court, but also in the classroom. He’s a phenomenal student and that’s why Yale of the Ivy League has made him a high priority.

While some schools may look at Grant as an undersized power forward, what many may be missing are the intangibles. He can create his own mismatch on offense with his ability to stretch the defense with his solid perimeter shooting, but more importantly, Grant has that burning desire to be the best he can be. He competes and winning matters! Grant does all the simple things that are something overlooked. For Grant Williams, every time he steps onto the court, he has something to prove.
