There are players all around the state of North Carolina that Phenom Hoops has its eyes on, and a young player that I’m really excited about seeing more with a bigger role this upcoming high school season is 2027 6’2 Chris Gomez.
Gomez has been a player on our radar for some time now, and he is one that I believe should only flourish even more this upcoming season with bigger opportunities. I believe he is one of the more underrated guards in the state for his class, especially with his blend of size, high IQ, creativity and ball-handling, and his ability to be a strong scoring option. Gomez has a lot to offer and for a player his age, one has to believe that he will only continue to get better and stronger. He plays with a tremendous understanding of how to help run the show, playing at a great pace, making great reads and high IQ plays for his teammates, knowing how to make play off the bounce and use his size effectively, and is a competitor.
Gomez really showcased more about his game this summer with CP3 2026 EYCL, and I believe that this upcoming season could be his best yet. But we are here to say, this is a guard to start paying attention to more in the state.
