Last year during the Phenom Hoops “Open Gym Tour,” we wrote “Go ahead and put Nate Hinton in your SIM CARD. Not only is he oozing with upside and potential, but he is an outstanding student.” Hinton sports an impressive 3.7 GPA and is a tremendous young man. He has a physical mature frame that is somewhat college ready, however is motor and full throttle approach to the game is his calling card. Back in March at the NC Top 80 event, Hinton would have made the “All Effort” team. He combines athleticism and a skill set that will project him as a hot prospect at the mid to high major level.
He has made improvements to his jump shot although he will need to more consistency throughout the season. If these adjustments can be made, expect his recruitment to explode to the high major level. Hinton is best in attacking the rim and he simply has all the tools. In addition, we really like his intangibles on the court. Hinton has an abundant of energy and his “give it everything” winning attitude will quickly attract attention.
Off the court, you won’t find a better young man. He is humble and quiet and possesses maturity and poise. There’s a lot to like and the future looks extremely bright. This season, a lot will be expected of this talented young player, but in our opinion is ready for the next step. Look for Hinton to be mentioned as one of the top players in North Carolina in his class.
