Oguama is a low-risk/high-reward prospect that could earn minutes from his first day on campus in the right situation.
Another player that has really impressed coaches this summer and should anticipate a significant rise in his recruitment is 6’9 ’18 Ody Oguama of (NC Red Storm/Cardinal Gibbons). In many ways, he is the leader for this NC Red Storm team. Defensively, he is their fallback when coverage goes awry; Oguama is always vocal on that end of the floor and makes sure everyone knows their assignment. Though he isn’t a “flashy” player, he is valuable and already a coveted prospect because of his fundamentals and commitment to play on defense.
Now armed with coordination and a phenomenal frame, Oguama is ready for the next level. He can immediately fit in with any program, given his ability to defend, rebound, and protect the rim; he also runs the floor extremely well and is capable of getting to the rim within two or three dribbles. Oguama has continually improved his offensive polish and overall IQ for the game, making him especially dangerous. His athleticism is terrific, he can play above the rim with ease and regularity, but also has deft touch below the rim. Oguama is incredibly long and has impeccable timing on defensive rotations; he even looks comfortable when switched onto smaller guards. Few other big men have been better at anchoring the paint on both ends of the floor; he plays with a high motor and is willing to do anything to warrant extra possessions. Oguama is a low-risk/high-reward prospect that could earn minutes from his first day on campus in the right situation. Watch for the offers to continue piling up as the summer goes on, given Oguama’s very recruitable skill-set.
Right now, Oguama’s recruitment has just starting to break out; he’s received offers from the likes of Coppin State, New Hampshire, and Radford. His interest varies from all levels, but they will almost certainly turn to offers if Oguama keeps playing at such a high level, as he’s done throughout July.
