This coming weekend, Phenom Hoop Report will be hosting our second annual National High School Showcase at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC. 20 teams will be making their way to western Forsyth County to showcase their talents to a plethora of scouts, college coaches, and passionate fans. After thorough review of the field, our team decided to put together a little “sneak preview” of individual players and matchups that people won’t want to miss.
Greensboro Day vs Christ School
Saturday – 6:00pm
Greensboro Day
Will Dillard
- This young man has already been a name that everyone in North Carolina should be familiar with and he showed why last week at the High School Jamboree. Now he leads the team against Christ School and there isn’t much this young man can do. Spectacular, in your face kind of defender, high-flyer, and can score on all three levels. He is getting recruited by several Division I programs and could be one of the top players for 2018.
Yes, 2018 6’2 G Will Dillard (GDS – NC) is transitioning to PG role, but he’s still doing stuff like this… pic.twitter.com/UbeeP3d2Ki

JP Moorman
- Moorman is an elite guard that has height and skills to compete against anyone. He is very versatile on the court for Greensboro Day and has worked hard on his frame, as he can defender several positions. This weekend, he earned his first ACC offer and already holds about eight other offers. But in an event like this, he could explode onto the scene.
John Newman
- Newman is another versatile player that wants to learn how he can get better; putting in effort to improve his all-around game. That has already earned him an offer from Charlotte and he could gain more down the road, as he is part of the 2018 class. He has developed a more consistent jumper and is fantastic in the open floor. Division I type player.
Solomon Smith
- Looks to be their sixth man off the bench this year but he showed some nice moves while at the High School Jamboree last week. He plays the forward position right now for Greensboro Day and has embraced that role for his team, while also showing some nice post moves and competing hard on the glass.
Jordan Perkins
- Tremendous floor general with the ball in his hands; very crafty and can make his opponents look silly if he catches you going the wrong way. Perkins has really developed into the role of a point guard now that he has more playing time and has developed his skill. He is gaining some college interest early.
Others to Watch:
Pearce Landry – Junior
Alex Michael – Sophomore
Christ School
John Fulkerson
- Fulkerson recently committed to Tennessee over Charlotte and Georgia and has seen his stock take a tremendous leap in the past year. Now, everyone will have a chance to see what this kid can do for Christ School, as the target will be on his back. He is a gifted prospect with length, but has the ability to knock down the outside shot. Fulkerson will be a huge part of Christ School’s offense this year and is a can’t miss player at the event.
Marquis Godwin
- Godwin comes in after transferring from Hampton High School and should provide an athletic scoring guard that should be a huge part of the offense. Last year, Godwin averaged 14.5 ppg and seven rebounds, but using his 6’5 frame, he could be a versatile player on both ends of the court.
