Northside Christian Vs Forsyth Country Day

Forysth Country Day is the host school for this event. Forsyth Country Day is coached by Howard West, who at one point, won 3 state titles in a row. Northside Christian is coached by Byron Dinkins who, at one point, won 3 state titles in a row. There is zero questioning the fact these two are two of the best high school coaches in North Carolina, and beyond. Each team carries division one talent, and both have players that are competing for scholarships. This one should be a scrappy match up.

Notable Matchups
Bruno Solomun Vs James Lewis

6’9” Senior Bruno Solomun had a mini break out this past weekend at the Phenom High School Jamboree, and is looking to build on that momentum. The athletic stretch 4, now has offers from the likes of Charlotte, Delaware, Georgia Southern among others. 6’7” Senior James Lewis has been a name on the radar for a while. The lengthy Lewis plays with a high motor and is a very good rebounder out of his area. Lewis has an offer from Radford. Both players are under recruited and both players will be battling one another for their college options.

Key Players
6’7” Senior James Lewis

Lewis is a long and springy forward. He does a good job protecting the paint area and rebounds at a high rate. Lewis carries a GPA near 4.0 and is tracking as a D1 prospect. He already carries an offer from Radford, and has many others looking in on him. This event should spring board him to pick up some more recruiting steam.

6’4” Sophomore Nate Hinton
Hinton played last year at Gaston Day, where he led the team in scoring. This season, he transferred over to Northside and looks to do much the same. The high academic Hinton, is a nonstop motor guy, who goes all out on defense, and is very aggressive on offense. Hinton is a Top 100 type kid, who is already getting interest from the likes of Davidson and Virginia.

6’2” Senior Colton Cashaw
Cashaw is the leader of this team. His game is very skilled and fundamentally sound and he plays with a high IQ. Cashaw is very vocal on the court and shoots the ball with range. His player here could kick start some college recruitment.

6’3” Freshman Donovan Gregory
Gregory made his splash this summer at Phenom’s David Rose Memorial Day Classic, where he did everything he could to finish every play above the rim. He plays in the mold of former Northside Christian standout Rayjon Tucker (currently at FGCU). He is a supreme athlete and a lock down perimeter defender. Gregory is just the next in line of high level prospects at this school.

Key Players
6’9” Senior Bruno Solomun

Solomun, a Croatian, has only been in the United States for three (3) months. He has quickly adjusted his game to the style and shows flashes of great play each time out. This past weekend, at the Phenom HS Jamboree, Solomun shot 6-9 from 3P in his first game. In the second game, he took to the low block where he showed touch and footwork. Solomun carries offers from the likes of Charlotte, Georgia Southern, and Delaware. Look for that offer sheet to jump significantly as more people see him.

6’7” Freshman Nick Evtimov
Evtimov is a skilled big who plays the game in a tough and rugged manner. His father, Vasco, played at Chapel Hill and his uncle, Ilian, played at NC State. Both brothers are still playing professionally. Nick plays like his father, as he is really a rugged player who enjoys the tougher aspects of the game. He has good footwork and very passer friendly hands. As he continues to get taller and grow stronger, Evtimov is a Top 100 type talent who will have a ton of recruitment along the way.

6’1” Sophomore Tripp Greene
Greene is that positionless glue guy that many aren’t sure what he is, but most can’t deny he is a key ingredient on championship teams. Greene is a very vocal and high level on ball defender. He shoots the ball with range, makes precise passes in the offense, and isn’t afraid of the spotlight. Greene started on varsity as a freshman and will look to kick start his recruitment, which will undoubtedly come.

6’4” Senior Matty Edwards
Edwards carries a basketball frame and a complimentary skill set. He is a high IQ guy, who shoots with range and will play the point guard a lot for this team. He handles the ball well in the half court and delivers timely passes to get his team into sets. Curiously, Edwards doesn’t have much recruitment, but a solid showing on this stage could very well change that. D3s all the way up to Patriot and Ivy’s need to see him
