Teams: Millbrook, Word of God, Charlotte Catholic, Calvary Baptist, Roxboro, Jack Britt, Northern Guilford
Northern Guilford 49 vs Roxboro 39
Northern Guilford and Roxboro are two teams that we have previewed several times today.
For Northern, Jack Emerick did his thing down in the paint as the big man led Northern with 15 big pints. Andy Pack came on in the second half, scoring 10 total points. Alec Hildreth, the big man down low along with Emerick chipped in 8 points against a smaller Roxboro team.
For Roxboro, Darius McGhee did what he has done all day; score the basketball. He was tremendous in the first half, scoring 12 points and finishing the game with 18 points to lead Roxboro
Millbrook 52 vs Word of God 49
Millbrook
- Trejon Jacob – 2016 – this is the go to guy for much of the game against Word of God. He has the length at 6’5 and can really compete against anyone on the court. He showed against a talented Word of God. We have spoken high about this young man and it seems that he is up to the challenge. Jacobs finished with 18 points to lead all scorers.
- Faison Brock – 2016 – 6’6 forward plays bigger than listed on the court with his lengthy arms. He threw a couple down on Word of God and plays bigger than his size. He is and will be a rebounding machine for Millbrook and go-to guy in the paint. He finished with 16 points and played well on the boards.
- Patrick Dorsey – 2017 – knock down shooter that transferred from Ravenscroft. He already fits into the offense and finds his spots on the floor.
- Jordan Whitfield – 2017 – controls the tempo for this team and quickly gets the ball up the court when he needs to. Millbrook needed a point guard this coming season and they have one in Jordan.
Word of God
- Rawle Alkiins – 2016 – transfer from New York has lived up to the hype. With so much talent, Alkins looks to be the big-dog scorer for Word of God early on. He played down low at the Jamboree but he is a mismatch when out in transition and on the perimeter, where he showcased his talents knocking down threes. Alkins finished with 12 points in the loss.
- Jaylen Fornes – 2016 – the UNCW commit is back in full force for Word of God, after missing time last season due to injury. He attacked the basket with force, knocked down jump shots, and is a fierce competitor defensively. Fornes hit three three’s in the game to lead the team with 13 points.
- Blake Harris – 2017 – recently transferred to Word of God, he fits in nicely with this team in running the point. His vision is spectacular with the talent around him, while also finding his own ways to score, mostly attacking the basket to look for a highlight finish. He also showed though today he can knock down the outside shot.
Jack Britt vs Roxboro
Jack Britt
- Immanuel Bates – 2018 – This kid we saw not too long ago at the Phenom150 and we really wanted to see him in action today. Size 18 shoe, this young man has length and is a physical tool on the boards down low. Still developing his game on the offensive side, but if this kid continues to grow, could be a nice threat in the paint.
- Jaylin Powell – 2017 – Was the leading scorer for Jack Britt with 12 points, as the crafty guard could be a go-to guy this season as a junior for this team.
Roxboro
- Te’Shon Clayton- we spoke about him earlier in the day and looks to be one of three scorers Roxboro will have this season. IN this game, he started strong in the first half with 10 points and finishing the game leading his team with 12 points.
- McGhee finished the game with eight points.
Charlotte Catholic 40 vs Calvary Baptist 39
Charlotte Catholic
- BJ Mack – 2019 – It was the big man’s show that people were watching. Already holding an offer, this young man has legitimate size at 6’8 and is a true post player for Charlotte Catholic. He also showed he has nice vision when the ball is in the paint, looking for his teammates along the outside.
- Overall: It was a balanced scoring attack for Charlotte Catholic. Josh Brodowicz, Jack Larkin, Owen Winterss, and Justin McKinstry all got it done in the hard fought win. They are a grinding team that plays sound basketball.
Calvary Baptist
- Jacob Brown – 2017 – At a lengthy 6’8 frame (but slender), Brown showed that he really can be a mismatch and cause problems for another team. With his size, usually he is matched up with big men. But is fully confident handling the ball and shooting from the outside, keeping his opponent on his toes. He displayed that against Charlotte Catholic at times. Hit three three’s in the loss.
- Cameron Easter – 2016 – Easter can play several positions for Calvary and showed that he can make some highlight plays and isn’t afraid of attacking the rim. Very athletic kid; finished with 11 points in the game.
