Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Trent Steinour
Class: 2025
Committed to: Clemson

What Has Been Said:

“Steinour is quite skilled for his size/position, yet knows how to consistently overwhelm opponents with his motor and athleticism. He plays very hard on both ends of the floor, which allows him to compete for every rebound and alter shots at a seemingly nonstop rate. Steinour is already an impressive two-way piece but still clearly possesses a lot of potential.”

“Steinour continues to answer the bell with his play, but also continues to develop and get stronger as a big. Steinour finished strong at the rim on multiple occasions, but also showed strong feel in the paint, finishing over defenders, being active on the glass, bringing a motor, protecting the rim defensively, and just being an overall presence on the court. He continues to add more and gets better.”

“Steinour continues to thrive as one of the best bigs in his class, and when you watch him operate and move, you can see why. Steinour continues to add more levels, get stronger, and impact the game all over, being strong on the boards, running the floor and attacking the rim, and now showing his ability to step out from time to time.”

“Steinour’s ability to play hard, control the glass, protect the rim, and score within the flow of the action makes him a seamless fit or perfect complement to legitimately any roster. He possesses touch around the basket and is capable of posting-up, playing out of the dunker spot, and rolling or popping as the screener in pick-and-roll situations. Steinour moves really well for his size and is polished enough to attack opposing bigs off the bounce. His athleticism, both lateral and vertical, has visibly trended up over the last calendar year. Additionally, Steinour poses a great lob threat and lurks really well for putbacks as an offensive rebounder. It’s truly difficult to say anything other than positives about the big man and his general progression. He still possesses as much upside as anyone in North Carolina’s Class of 2025 and only seems likely to continue improving.”

“Between his size, fluidity, and natural feel, it was easy to see the appeal at an early age. However, his increased strength, toughness, aggression, and athleticism has allowed his identity to legitimately blossom on both ends of the floor. He anchors the paint defensively, competes for every rebound, and knows how to assert himself as a scoring threat. Steinour is comfortable making moves on the block, spacing the floor, and navigating the two-man game as a screener. He also does a terrific job of running hard and properly filling the lane in transition.”
