The NC Phenom 150 Spring Evaluation Camp took place Saturday, March 14th and the talent level was strong from top to bottom. Today, we will take a look at some of the players from each individual team. Each camp coach was to fill out a detailed individual player evaluation. While we try to focus on upside and potential, we also look carefully at intangibles such as attitude, cooperation, work ethic and team play. We hope to capture a thorough detailed resume for each player in attendance.

“Maxwell is a solid point guard with a high basketball IQ and extremely patient. Reminds me of “Mark Price” because he’s never rattled and refuses to allow his opponents defense to dictate his decision and how he runs the team. His foot speed/ defense can improve, however he plays his opponent to the help, which shows his knowledge of the game. Good talent, positive attitude, and extremely humble.” – Coach

Samuel Ubezonu – #183/ 6’4 – Mount Zion (2016)

“Samuel is the glye that kept out team together this weekend. Solid defender, continued to make plays with the basketball off the high ball screen, and made the extra pass when necessary. Samuel was divine on the floor and doing the little things the college coaches will love to see. Great attitude, coachable, leads by example – quiet kid, but effort speaks for him. Needs to improve outside shooting and mid-range game because his size won’t allow him to get off those shots against bigs at the next level.” – Coach

Josh Helton – #220/ 6’8 – Kings Mountain (2017)

“Josh is a stud! Reminds me of a young Frank Kaminsky from Wisconsin. Solid defender, decent foot work, passes out of the double team extremely well and makes his teammates better. Josh apologized for us losing the first game and came out in game to with a double/double. He’s a mid major player – possibly higher if/ when his foot speed matches his IQ. Josh never goes for head faces, he moves his feet well, and works so hard on both ends of the floor. He is only a sophomore; this kid is amazing with a great attitude.” – Coach

Mathew Lange – #180/ 6’3 – Westchester (2016)

“Marshall is the real deal! I’ve seen a lot of talent over the past 10 years but he takes them all. His basketball IQ is unreal, his attitude is humble, student of the game, coachable, and solid in all areas of the court. I will be the first to say, this kid is a high major player. He is a two guard in a point guard body but here’s the thing, he can play. He really reminds me of a Ricky Rubio, Goran Dragic player. He competes all over the floor and he takes no plays off. Love this kid!” – Coach

“Solid, “sneaky,” player. Had several steals and created a lot of turnovers due to his speed and help side defense. He has the talent and is committed to getting better and better every day. He showed solid game in shooting off the dribble with crafty passing skills and excelled on the defensive side of the ball.” – Coach
