AAU Coach Evaluation:
Left handed Combo guard that uses a powerful burst and strong frame to gain an advantage against opponents. He consistently shows the ability to breakdown the defense to create scoring opportunities for himself at the rim in traffic or stopping on a dime to nail his mid-range pull up. One of his most captivating skills is his speed which allows him to go end to end before the defense sets up and finish at the rim. Needs to continue to improve passing, decision making, shooting from the catch and staying focused. – Coach Clifford Coleman, Asst Men’s Basketball Coach Newport News Apprentice School…Boo Williams AAU

Personal:
BriQuan is a highly regarded two-sport star who has received many accolades for his football talent as well as his basketball skill. His middle school football highlights include a game in which he threw for 5 touchdowns, another game in which he caught 4 passes for touchdowns and yet another game where he ran for 4 TD’s for Joliff Road Middle School in Chesapeake.

Coach Frank says: BriQuan is one of the area’s most physically gifted and skilled 2019’s. A two sport star whose powerfully built frame can also be attributed to his football training, BriQuan knows how to use that body to impose his will against defenders welcoming contact and having the strength and balance to be effective in traffic and finish at the rim. He has excellent ball handling skills and quickness combined with explosiveness allowing him to change speeds and utilize quick starts and stops on both ends. BriQuan can shoot the three with very good consistency and compliments that with the ability to use explosiveness to beat his defender and pull up into a very good and consistent mid range jumper. A harassing, physical and active defender, BriQuan is a very good rebounding guard and is expected to start and handle much of the playmaking duties as a freshman once his first varsity season gets underway at Western Branch HS in December.
