AAU Coach Evaluation:
Jaelen Stagg has worked hard to become a compete basketball player. He has worked hard over the summer to improve his on ball defense and ball handling. Jaelen has always had the ability to score from outside, but this summer has had to work on being able to score all over the court and has accepted the challenge. Jaelen averaged 17 points a game this summer but his biggest improvement was his assist stats. Jaelen has elevated his assist average from 5 per game to 9 per game. While excelling on the court, Jaelen has also improved his leadership skills on and off the court. I am excited to see the type of season he has this upcoming basketball season. I am sure it will be a special season for Jaelen. – Coach Charles Thomas, Western Branch HS

Personal:
I am honored that Phenom Hoop Report thought enough of me to do this feature and I am grateful. This upcoming season I’m looking to help lead the Churchland Truckers to a great season with the help of guys like Derrick Brown, Cornel Uchie and Zyhia Quick. We’ve worked very hard this offseason as a team to get better. Our head coach Lawrence Glover and coach Jenkins have pushed us to be the best we can be. This is my senior year and if God keeps me healthy this will be a special season for me and our team.

Coach Frank says:
Jaelan is one of the area’s most productive point guards and has matured from a scoring point guard to a solid floor leader with quickness and strong playmaking ability. Always called upon to be a point producer, Jalean is able to use explosive quickness, strong ball handling skills and shifty aggressive drives to the basket to score or get to the free throw line. Jaelan has been a score first player out of necessity and is an excellent three point shooter making him a more effective player able to score at every level, one of the 757’s most explosive scorers and toughest defensive assignments. Sometimes his scoring overshadows his ability to run a team and distribute the basketball which he has demonstrated he can do as the talent on his team has improved. Jalean is a good interior passer and plays well in traffic. He makes good decisions and rarely turns the ball over. He has explosiveness, the ability to vary the rhythm of his dribble and can get into the body of a defender. His toughness and leadership has always been a trademark that has made him one of the area’s more respected guards and one players enjoy playing with. Defensively he is tenacious on ball, first on the floor for loose balls and plays with a chip on his shoulder.
