6’3” Senior Ray Kowalski took his first official visit this weekend to Southeast Missouri State. It didn’t take him long to realize that is where he wanted to be as Kowalski, committed there this Sunday.
With a great July performance Kowalski picked up offers from Penn, Loyola (MD), VMI, and Citadel, but it was Southeast Missouri that formed the strongest bond, “It is just a fantastic opportunity all around. They have a great coaching staff with great guys around the program and are in a great conference. Not to mention the fact they have the chance to be a really good team.”
One unique factor that Southeast Missouri State had working in its favor is that they offered the major that Kowalski is looking for, “They offer a degree in Actuarial Science that I want. Most schools don’t offer that opportunity.” Kowalski also grew fond of the campus and city, “The campus is great and Cape Girardeau is a real college town.”
The 6’3” Kowalski has a high IQ on the court, but make no mistake he is a sharp-shooter on the court likes the plan that the coaching staff has for him and the depth chart at his position, “Their starting shooting guard graduates the year I’ll be coming in. They are looking for someone to come in and make in impact right away at the 2. They also need someone at the 1, and to be able to score the ball. They and I both think that I can be that guy.”
Kowalski is a senior at 3A Concord High School this year. Their team possesses a lot of talent however, Kowalski says there is only one goal on their minds this year, “we want to win that state title, we very well could end up state champs this year.”
This is Southeast Missouri State’s first commitment in the 2016 class.
