The young talent around the area certainly is intriguing and Phenom Hoops has had a great opportunity to learn several names early on that you will be hearing about more.  Heading into the high school season, we can guarantee you that there will be several freshmen that you will be hearing about and will quickly leave an impression.  One of those players may be 2028 6’5 Mekhi Allen at Queens Grant.

We have talked about his game before, having said this before:

“When you talk about his game early on, there are a lot of early factors that you have to like especially if he continues to develop and add more. He has good positional size at 6’3 as an incoming freshman, understands how to be active and engaged around the basket and in the paint, but is also skilled and fluid enough to make plays in a variety of other ways as well as stretch the court from outside. He was confident on several occasions when scoring and stretching the floor, knocking down shots from outside confidently. But he has only continued to improve his ability to create for himself, has fluid shooting mechanics, and shows that he can flourish in a variety of roles. There is a lot of versatility with his game and with a new team at Queens Grant, it seems that Allen will have plenty of opportunities to help lead the team at an early age.”

Queens Grant will be a must-see program led by head coach Joe Badgett, as they have the blend of talent and experience.  But freshman Mekhi Allen will be one to really watch, as he is trending early on as one of the top players in the Class of 2028 here in North Carolina. You simply don’t see too many young prospects his age with his size at 6’5, his comfort level in operating inside and out, and his versatility. Allen can hurt you in a variety of ways, scoring inside and attacking the glass, but also is comfortable in operating from the perimeter, knocking down threes and mid-range shots.  Allen creates well for himself off the bounce, and shows that he can also guard multiple positions defensively. He has a blossoming game that seems to be just starting for him, as he will only continue to develop his game and frame, which will help him even more down the road.

But it has been noted for quite sometime now that Allen has a chance to be special here in North Carolina, and he is trending as one of the top prospects in his class.
