Just a few weeks ago, Phenom Hoops had a tremendous opportunity in working with USA Basketball at the US Open Basketball Championships East Division. Teams from all around the country came to participate, as we got our eyes on several new names.  But walking away from the event, there was one player that clearly stood out amongst the rest, and leaving no doubt that she may be one of the top prospects in her class.

2029 Carib Morris from Legacy Carolina was absolutely off the charts, and she showed why I believe she will be regarded as one of the top prospects nationally in her class. Morris was a matchup nightmare with an elite skillset, great size, and high IQ overall. Standing at 6’2, Morris could score with ease from all levels of the court. Whether it was creating off the bounce, pick-and-pop situations, stretching the floor with deep range behind the arc, attacking the glass and creating extra opportunities, or being a playmaker for others, Morris simply showed it all at a high level. There are only a few players that I’ve seen at that young age on the girls’ side that have impressed me, one of which was being our very own Sarah Strong, who is now at UConn. Morris has a lot to like about her game, which is why schools aren’t wasting any time on offering her.

So far, Morris has racked up offers from Kentucky, Houston, Mississippi State, Clemson, and others, but I believe this list will only continue to grow quickly.

What Was Said:

“Morris, who is a 6’2 young prospect, instantly caught my eye with her play and feel for the game. Learning more about her, she looks to be a name already trending as a big-time prospect in the Class of 2029. Holding multiple offers and part of Team USA, Morris is an absolute matchup nightmare with her size, perimeter feel, and overall skillset. She can operate down in the post and finish with touch, as well as be a force on the glass.  But what intrigues you the most is her comfort level from the perimeter, defending outside, showing strong handles, and her ability to be a big threat from the perimeter. Easily looks to be a national prospect in her class.”
