Indiana Top 80 – Breakout Players

Coming into a new state a lot of the players seem as if they are breakout, because a lot of them are new. Especially when you go into a state like Indiana, when you have a Top 80 and everyone invited is good. We had the luxury of a great scout team helping us out, so that we were able to get (baring the SATs and Official visits) pretty close to the right crowd there.

How did we go about forming this list, their recruitment. If we talked to a kid performed well beyond his recruitment, we considered that kid to break out.

Parker Hazen 6’7” 2017
Columbia City HS (Columbia City)

Hazen walks onto the court passing the look test. He has long arms and a basketball frame. His lineage is good as his brother is a commitment to UCF. As for Hazen’s recruitment he currently carries offers from Ball State and IUPUI. However, expect that to drastically pick up. Hazen is an aggressive downhill wing. He finished multiple dunks in traffic, and had no issue getting into the paint. His recruitment could take on an A 10, AAC, Big 12 feel.

Gage Pinkerton 6’10” 2017
Marion HS (Marion)

Pinkerton was perhaps the biggest revelation of the day. Coming in, he carried no offers and light interest however after his performance here that should all change. Pinkerton carries a great frame as he is 6’10” and carries a 7’4” wing span. What impressed most was his patience and skill in the low post. He showed comfort with his back to the basket. He had a move and counter, as well as finishing with both hands. This one could take a Big 10, Big 12, Big East, Missouri Valley type feel.

Desmond Bane 6’4” 2016
Seton Catholic (Richmond)

From the outset, Bane was on a mission. All he did all day was rebound, defend, and score. What more do you want in a kid' If it wasn’t for the stellar play of his camp team mate, Kris Wilkes, Bane would have been a choice for camp MVP. Bane has a college ready frame, with great strength. He was comfortable handling the ball in the half court, and was able to get downhill at will. Bane’s only D1 offer is Air Force. He carries a 3.3 GPA and reminds of current James Madison senior Ron Curry. After being seen, this one could take a CAA, MAC, Horizon feel.

Austin Boucher 6’3” 2018
Fort Wayne South HS (Markle)

From the start of drills, Boucher had a different type of air about him. As a sophomore he has a 6’7” wing span on his 6’3” frame. He handled well in the half court and shot with deep range. Boucher is equally comfortable and effective playing the point guard or shooting guard roles. He has a Jason Bohannon, former Wisconsin guard, feel to his game. His recruitment should take a national feel as he is a Top 100 type player.

Gavin Bizeau 6’8” 2018
Plainfield HS (Plainfield)

Bizeau fit right in line with what many think about when an Indiana big comes to mind. He is very skilled, showing a preference to be facing the basket. Throughout the day, Bizeau made various shots from 15 feet out to beyond the 3 point arc. While still in his infancy of recruitment, this could pick up an Ivy, CAA, MAC feel.

Sydney Curry 6’5” 2019
Bishop Leuers (Fort Wayne)

Curry, a lefty, left quite an impression on the event. Playing well beyond his years in terms of confidence and skill. Already standing as a 6’5” freshman, Curry wears a size 17 shoe and wields a 6’10” wing span. Curry is very skilled, he shot the 18 footer very well and was able to post and attack from the high post. There is a lot of upside here, and this recruitment could take a national feel as a Top 100 type player.
