It is that time of the year… time to crown a champion in what can only be recognized as the premier event to end the season for several of these teams. The Hoop State Championship gives teams, players, and fans a chance to check out some of the top teams in the country from North Carolina, all competing for a state title!
The season has flown by but Phenom Hoops has one more elite event to go in crowning a state champion, as we preview the teams that will be in contention this year.
Moravian Prep
Record: 35-4
It sure has been fun watching this team in action all year long. Led by Coach Ellis, Moravian Prep has been in the national spotlight for much of the season and they certainly haven’t backed down from anyone this year as they have racked up some strong wins all throughout the year. Now sitting with 35 wins and counting, Moravian Prep is hoping to get back their Hoop State Championship title that they won in the first Phenom Hoops tournament just a few years back.
They have the talent to do so, but we are now getting to the point that any team can make a run to a title, that is how loaded it is. But when you look at the roster, you first start with the Ellis brothers in 2025 Eli Ellis and 2026 Issac Ellis, as the young guards certainly are fun to watch and can light it up from outside. But they have certainly added more to their arsenal. Then you have players that have been making a ton of noise and grabbing the attention of college coaches, such as 2023 Mayar Wol, 2022 Jackson Holt, 2022 Justin Banks, 2022 Hamilton Campbell, 2022 Ryan Roberts, and others, as this team puts on a show each time they step on the court.
And you won’t have to worry, there will be no lack of energy coming from this team, as they understand what it takes and what is needed to take home the title and be crowned champion. They have faced tough competition all year long but will they be able to come up big one last time to end the season' We shall see, as it all goes down in Rock Hill, South Carolina!
