POB’s Eye Catchers from Day 1 at the US Open Basketball (Central)

2030 Hudson Heim (KC Run GMC) Heim may have been the best prospect and the one with the most potential on Day 1 that I saw. Standing at 6’5, he offers a lot with his game and versatility. Heim does a great job in running the floor, operating from the perimeter,...

Coastal Carolina lands another in 2026 Jordan Buzzard

Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or see a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that...

2026 Q Williams announces his commitment to Coastal Carolina

NBA Draft 2025: Second Round Thoughts

Although one could argue that the talent level in this draft drops drastically after the first handful of picks, there was still some value in the second round. Obviously, it’s more likely that these guys don’t crack NBA rotations, but some will inevitably work their...

Who Are the Top Prospects in North Carolina’s Class of 2028?

Rankings are always an interesting discussion point. We know it’s an opinion-based practice heavily predicated on what the viewer values in a player. Some people value a pure scorer more than a true point guard, and assuming the players are of equal level, they could...

NBA Draft 2025: Additional First Round Notes

Teams Outsmarting Themselves It’s amazing how a team like Brooklyn entered a draft with five first-round picks, used all of their selections, and somehow walked away without adding any major pieces. They aggressively reached on Demin before drafting Nolan Traore,...

NBA Draft 2025: First Round Reactions (Picks 11-15)

Minimal Excitement to Conclude Lottery Picks Although most of the popular prospects were positioned atop this draft board, there was still real value in the late lottery. Memphis trades up to grab Cedric Coward--one of the fastest risers in this year’s class. His...

NBA Draft 2025: First Round Reactions (Picks 6-10)

Wizards Add Shooting in Johnson, Pelicans Take Fears Entering the second half of the top ten picks, Washington secures one of the draft’s most universally loved players in Johnson. He’s an elite shot-maker whose ability to hit NBA-level jumpers will make him a...

NBA Draft 2025: First Round Reactions (Picks 1-5)

Flagg First, Harper Second There were no surprises between Dallas and San Antonio, as the only two “locks” in the draft were taken off the board with the first two selections. Even if we look back in five or ten years and see others surpass Flagg or Harper, these were...

Player Standouts at Phenom Team Camp Session II (2028/2029) Part Two

6’6 ’28 Roman Solheim (Northwest Guilford) In terms of intrigue, Solheim was easily one of the most enticing standouts on display. He’s a very smart, skilled forward who sets the tone with his effort, well-rounded skillset, and leadership by example. Solheim is able...
