It has been a great start to the season with Phenom Hoops, as we continue to learn about the next wave of talent coming through the state of North Carolina. We have had some strong overall events in the month of November, and there have been a few impressive freshmen who have stepped out and grabbed our attention. Here are a few early impactful freshmen from the Phenom Hoops events in the last month.

2029 Grant Duggins (Greensboro Day)

When talking about notable freshmen in the state, one could start with 2029 Grant Duggins out of Greensboro Day. A very talented young prospect that many already know about, he has been a big presence for his team in the month of November. Duggins is a skilled big that demonstrates tremendous footwork and feel, displaying a high IQ and feel in the paint along with touch. He runs the floor, is strong on the glass, and makes his presence felt in a big way for his team. Easy to see that D1 schools will be coming his way.

2029 MJ McKinney (Hopewell)

McKinney was a player that we learned quite a bit about to start the season, as our scouts were impressed with his production and poise. McKinney displays a strong overall feel for the game, along with a well-rounded skillset. He has good overall size, moves well, is comfortable in a variety of areas, and shows comfort in scoring inside and out. He will be a name to watch more in the Charlotte area.

2029 Royce Perkins (Salisbury)

Perkins was another new name that we learned about, as he was impressive and consistent throughout his play at the Phenom Lakesgiving. He is a strong-framed guard that brings bounce and athleticism, but also plays with composure. He was able to provide big minutes, create his own shot, score well over defenders, and brings strong energy overall.

2029 Jeremiah Murchison (KSR Academy)

Murchison continues to emerge as an exciting young prospect with real upside as he develops his game. A quick athlete with natural instincts on both ends of the floor, he plays with energy and confidence that immediately stands out. He excels at attacking downhill, using his burst to pressure the defense and create opportunities both for himself and others, and he is especially dangerous in the open floor where his speed and aggressiveness shine. Defensively, his anticipation and effort allow him to impact passing lanes and disrupt ball handlers.
